Skuzzy, please see my previous post. How does this card look to you? Do you think I need to upgrade my standard power supply? It's whatever came with an off-the-shelf Gateway 3 yrs ago.

other specs:

PIII 866 MHz CPU, 512 MB RAM, currently running a Riva TNT2 32 MB AGP vid card.

That's a pretty slow card.  The ATI9100 is faster than that one.

Generally speaking, you are not going to get a good performing 3D graphics card for under $100.  But, "good performing" is very subjective.

Skuzzy,

If I had $150.00 for a new card, what would you recommend?

Thanks,

Glove

Although I'm not skuzzy, my recommendation for the $150 card is probably the same as his: the 9600 pro.

Uh, I'm just a little bit puzzled...when I went to New Egg and typed in "Radeon 9600 Pro" into the search engine, I must have gotten 7 or 8 9600s to look at, all a different price. What should I pay attention to in a graphics card. I feel like such a dufus.

There are many companies making ATI cards these days.  I usually opt for the ATI made card.

The 9600Pro is probably the best bang for the buck card right now, in its price range.  The 9600XT should be showing up in a couple of weeks and it will shore up the best-bang-for-the-buck category.
