Title: Maybe a Major Ground battle
Post by: 68KO on November 11, 2003, 12:16:43 PM
Guys ,
maybe a major ground battle would be great with some planes I just think it would be neat.

Whats so funny .I think it would be great to see 60 to 75% of gv's in an event slugging it out against 2 ridges that are line uped on two different sides CHARGEING with the smell of gun powder in the air and a smoke filled battle field who will win the road to victory. Just because this game is aces high does not mean we have to stay with 90 to 80% planes I just thing it would be nice to Ramual's tigers going against the US army Tanks .I think we could  do an africa thing I think thats where he was in the war? But if you think it is that funny I guess it is out of the question. I would like it to be a snapshot on wednesday night if we can not do it  on an event scale. If I can who do I contact to get the ball rolling on a snapshot.:)

I'm in.  It sounds like a real blast.  Ignore the nay-sayers, KO.  They are living in their own narrow little world.

How 'bout El Alamein, or Kursk?  Not too many air assets, but a BUNCH of gvs in El Alamein.  Both were "set-piece" battles, with limited amounts of travel.  More like WWI than WWII, really, with formidable fixed defenses.

Kursk had a lot more air involvement.

be patient... AHII:Tod has major potential for some badass Combined Arms stuff. With Player controlled GVs mixinig with A/I Columns, you can achieve something closer to the Epic combined arms battles like Kursk, while allowing pleanty of room for people who still want to fly.

That would be good enough for me. I'm really looking forward to that, even though it appears to be in the distant future.

If you can't wait that long for good GV Action, you could always Check out CAP which often has a GV component, although it's not as large as you're talking about here.

68KO , i was not trying to offence you

this was first pro-gv's "whine" on Special Events forum i read from 2 years. Thats was so funny:)

Morover , with current  damage modeal, and terrains.
Without tons of osties and m16, tanks are only target for airplanes. And as you know ( i supose) something about 200 osties was ever build. Im not sure about m16 (posibly something aroud 1000. So, for tanks battles AH is not best game

No problem no offence taken but picture the seen 1 ridge with panzers lined up firing back and fourth with m3's skurring to keep there supplies running to the front. Who will out last the fire fight will the supplies run out? Who knows. But the americans flank them from the side and take out there vh and with no supplies they woud be dead lol I love .I been working on a terrian for the for some time . I would like to run it as a snap shot is that possiable?:aok

My great Uncle won the Silver Star when over in italy but so far no one in the family knows why and did alot of mail to The records Center In IN and they told me most of the records there were destroyed from that year forward in that big fire they had

I think a tank battle would be a nice change of pace. Nothing beats a good old fashion stand off.:)  I think it's a good idea, even if alot of people down it.

Sarge I know exactly where you are. I live in Southern Jersey but work in North East Philly. Always nice to meet up with East Coast boys.

Kursk maybe one day but Battle of the Bulge is alittle closer to our present plane/vehicle set.

Having said that present planning shows

Ruhr in Feb (no vehicles)

Kurland in May (vehicle content)

Possibly  BoB in August (No vehicles)

Bulge would be neat in November..........maybe (someone may want to do Pearl or something for then)

May not be a lot of GV guys out there, but there are plenty who like killin GV's.

something I been toying with here, as a S. O. sort of thing has this little bit in it.

.
Quote
*  All pilots will begin in aircraft, but GV's will be available to spawn at the 45 -60 minute mark for use by any pilots who were shot down or arrived to the event late.  Side Commanders should be aware of this situation and plan accordingly.

I would not likely submit it for use, as it does NOT fit in the current SO guidelines at all.  Mostly I was playing with rules set ups to see how it would all work out.  The timeframe is for a 2 hour event, so as a scenario it would probably be different.

was thinking like in early midway. before major battle they had landings, you could set up map rooms/ with one rearm pad at many different parts of island and have ijn lvts with troops invading islandand Destoyers near island shelling.  and trying to capture as much as they can to take over island , we can try to racapture it in m3 with one machine gun could make it a troops fight in a way.. would  make it troops lvt and m16 battles to keep island from take over. Since they did not have any planes to use but 6 i think when japan attacked it. Sb's set to a smaller setting to make it like the small gun  3in or 5 in. forgot what it was off hand.. they had on island attacking ships, and landing craft. tons of troops/ ships and gvs to shoot at all the time. was thnking about one like that to keep it a gv for gv guys to have some fun. AH two will be good for this since we could have the trees and brush to hide behind also.. this way it would not be open ground like in AH now. tanks werent used ... could be antoher d day invasion shooting at troops running and trying to get rid of landing craft .
