I don't like her!
But I applaud her on this .
Good for Her.
Heck she might even get a few votes out of it:aok

What is wrong with what she is doing?

I bet 6 senators are really spearheading this thing. Anyone wanna bet whose district these hospitals are in? Its akin to watching people scream about cutting military spending then screaming when bases in their state are shut down (hello California).
Oh well... If this is the best thing you can find to say about hillary, the title of the thread is more accurate than you think.

I guess I forgot to include this...
Whatever W does is correct because he has been chosen by god to lead the country at this time.
All opposition is indeed satanic.
See, fair and balanced.

I'm sure it's only for the polls, or the votes, or for the gypsy woman she sold her soul to back in '84. There can't be a good reason... can there?
(psssst - that was sarcasm too)
-
she sold her soul long before 84.
-
One of the hospitals being shut down is in her district. If you think this doesn't affect votes you are mistaken. The unanswered question would be if she would be participating if the hospital in her district did not appear on the list.
There is enough here to show that "care for veterans" might or might not be the primary concern. That this is brought up on veterans day says more about Hillary than anything. Caring... maybe. Oportunistic... definately.

Soooooo.. the evidence shows that there clearly may or may not be an alleged connection? You sure you want to go that far out on that limb?
:D

I have no idea what you are talking about MT. But let me make my oppinion very clear:
A story coming out on Veterans day about hillary's attempts to keep a veterans hospital (in her district) open is pretty typical hillary. Just as showing up at an NYPD ball in the wake of 9/11 is pretty typical hillary.
Champion those moves all you want big guy. Afterall... how could they be anything but caring... right?

Well, your 1st sentence was right on the button.
I just thought your phrasing was funny. I could give a crap about Hillary's motive.
-
I am with Mini D on this one, I suspect her motives and her timing. Supporting Veterans these days is a popular move, too bad there wasn't more support for the military, their families and the Vets when the Clintons ruled the White House.
Interesting that there is some informed opposition to her move, and I have to believe at least some of them know what they are talking about and if there are benefits to be realized from the changes to be made. She seems to not know the details, but wants to meddle.
"We are concerned your amendment may completely stall the CARES process and prohibit VA from making the necessary changes to improve its health care system and services for veteran patients," said David Gorman, DAV executive director.
Does anyone think the Disabled American Veterans executive director isn't up to speed on the issue, hasn't weighed benefits versus disadvantages? Does anyone think the Disabled American Veterans executive director isn't interested in the Veterans best interest medically but Hillary is???
His motives: Health Care for Veterans
Her motives: Getting votes, photo ops, good soundbites, future run for President.
Who's motives do you really trust?

Here is an interesting website: A view on Hillary (somewhat slanted but untrue?) (http://www.earstohear.net/hillary.html)

Simple take: I generally dont trust politicians motives but with this one I dont trust her motives especially. She is a politician of the most dispicable sort.

Such high esteem in a first term...
I tell ya... if she can get this kind of reaction from the right as a freshman Senator, she must be doing a fine fine job.

Wait I thought all you lefties were whining that Bush was spending too much? So now you don't want him to cut budgets? Make up your mind, tards.
-
hillary is looking out for hillary, anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool or a liberal ......
-
Take some time to read about what the VA is trying to do. "Old" and "Underused" are key words if you bother to read the print. There are a number of new clinics scheduled (as well as a couple being "specialized".
Hillary "care" about Vets? LOLOLOL She cares about votes, nothing more.
-
Supporting veterans is a good thing regardless of the motive.
-
I think this is more a concious of guilt and votes than anything resebleing compassion. This same person that probably spit on GIs returning from veitnam is now trying to win votes by protecting there "intrests"
Amazing!

Amen brother, Amen.

The truely selfish, self-centered scheming power lusting types like Hillary have no conscience, so they feel no guilt.

Whatever H. Clinton's motivation, she will not be accepted by the average American in 2004 as a serious Presidential Candidate, liberal desperation notwithstanding...

Which is a good thing, because she's not actually running.

put her in mens clothing...give her a manly voice and voila...G.W.Bush
she is a politician...just like all the others...including your monkey:rofl
-
underused and outdated hospitals, including one in her state
This is the part that caught my eye.
I personally don't think that she gives a rats bellybutton about Vets.
-

Dont believe that, she will run. There is no limit to her scheming.

So you support our Veterans in Iraq? And their mission obviously, since motive is meaningless (according to you)
WTG!
Owned! Thanks for playing! (http://www.wsu.edu/~delahoyd/personal/hsqgame.jpg)

Nice try Ripsnort... I am a veteran. :p

Silat: What is wrong with what she is doing?
She wants us to keep "underused and outdated hospitals".
Why would we want to pay for unused hospital space? Why would we keep our veterans in outdated facilities?
She wants to "want to slow down a VA plan to shift the agency's health care focus to outpatient facilities"
Outpatient facilities are great and their use by civilians increases all the time. Why would we want to hold our veterans chained to the outdated system?
Moving the beds would allow VA to increase the number of long-term beds in New York and save an estimated $23 million a year by closing the hospital...
Does not seem a good thing to me - opposing the increase of hospital beds and saving a bunch of wasted money.
In addition to Canandaigua, the proposed restructuring would close hospitals in Pittsburgh; Lexington, Ky.; Brecksville, Ohio; Gulfport, Miss.; Livermore, Calif., and Waco, Texas. It also would open new clinics and add new hospitals. For example, Syracuse or Albany, N.Y., could get a new spinal cord injury center.
Does not seem like such a good deed either.
...another group, the Disabled American Veterans, has asked her to drop the proposed amendment
But what the heck do the disabled veterans know about the veteran's healthcare...

OMG I can't believe I actually agree with miko2d on something!
-
So you support our Veterans in Iraq?
What the heck are Veterans doing in Iraq? Too early for sightseeing, and certainly too early for a nostalgia tour.
Get them Veterans out of Iraq and let the current soldiers do their work.
Geez, imagine a bunch of retired Vets touring a place so dangerous. Gives me the willys.

What exactly is so bad about a politician doing something that actually gains votes... I mean... duh!
(BTW, as a member of the "Young Republicans" at Wellesly College I doubt that Hillary was spitting on returning vets from VN)
