What is a good model of Gameboy for kids 5-8 yrs. old? I need two, it doesn't have to be top of the line (preferably not since I'd like to keep the "cost vs. technology tomorrow" factor low) We're heading to Disney World in 2 weeks, need something to make that grueling 12 hour total travel time easier on my boys.:)

I have an original Gameboy with the game "Primal rage' for sale, only $20, interested???

Our kids have the Gameboy Advanced. It's worth the extra $$ I think, you can also play older Gameboy titles on it, so you can get cheap games.
-
I agree with Raub. My wife and I bought our oldest a "Gameboy Color" and wish we would have at least gotten the "Advanced". While there are plenty of games for the "Color" version the "Advanced" allows the newer games to be played. Right now we have 2-3 games for our son's and he plays on it probably one weekend a month. The rest of the time he is outside playing with the other kids in the neighborhood and not sitting on his arse and loafing about the area.

My son has both the Gameboy Color and the Gameboy Advance. While the Gameboy Advance has better games, I think the Gameboy Color has a better display. The Advance is really dark on some games and it can be very difficult to see even in the best of light. I'm not sure about 5-8 year olds, but if I were buying an Advance for me, I'd go with the Advance SP.

I have 2 boys, ages 9 and 7.
We purchased the Gameboy Advanced for them and it was worth every peace and quiet on roadtrip penny.
I also got the screen cover/light for the Gameboys as well. Saves the screen when not in use, and the light helps with the dark screen on some games. Also got the game link cable, but it turned out to be a waste of money since they never go head to head on the games that have that capability.
And what Raub said on the capability to play older cheaper games on Gameboy Advanced.
The only time they play them anymore is when we go on roadtrips, so it's worth it for that.

I'd love to, however, our schedule is tighter than Lazs's rear end. :(
We arrive at 10pm Fri night after Thksgiving, then head up to Disney World (From Ft.Lauderdale, near my moms house) in a 34' brand new RV on Sat. Morning. Return to Ft.Lauderdale on Thurs. night the following week, then Friday we're visiting other family, then Sat. morning we turn for home.
