RULES

White/Grey Press- The player can choose to have any press (except to the Master) sent anonymously.

No Late Receive- Private press may not be sent to any power that has not submitted orders after a deadline.

No Late Changes- In games using this rule, no changes can be made to any already-submitted orders after a deadline has passed.

Civil Disorder- Any power that has not submitted orders: when the game's Master submits a PROCESS command, or when the deadline has passed (or, if a grace period is specified in the TIMING line of the game's status file, before the expiration of the grace period), will have its orders entered automatically. During movement phases, all units will HOLD, during retreat phases, all dislodged units will DISBAND, and during adjustment phases, all builds will be WAIVED, and all removals will be entered using random choice from among the power's on-board units, with preference given to retaining units that are situated on supply centers. (see CD Retreats below.)

CD Retreats- All powers in civil disorder during a retreat phase will retreat any dislodged units randomly, preferably into supply centers. Without this rule, units in civil disorder will DISBAND in retreat phases. Note that if neither the CIVIL_DISORDER nor the CD_DUMMIES rules are specified, all powers (whether dummy or not) will have their retreat orders default at the deadline if they have not been submitted.

Eavesdrop- The Master is sent a copy of all private press messages.

If you sign up, the only problems you'll inherit will be the ones of your own making. :)

It keeps saying something like this:

Unprocessed part of your message:

JOIN aceshigh3 blah blah
SIGNOFF

And no, I didn't really put 'blah blah' on there.

Are you certain you're registered? http://www.floc.net/dpjudge/dppd/

Also, is the email address you're using to join the game also listed on the DPPD?

Last... the judge address is dpjudge@diplom.org

If all of these are correct, you should be in like Flint.

If you still need warm bodies, I'll jump in here as well. But I'll wait until there's only one slot left, so as to give someone who hasn't had a chance to play yet, a chance to get in.

It's a board game (adapted to the PC) along the same lines as Risk, but the objective here is to take over Europe.  Instead of using dice to decide fights, it's numerical superiority: 2 armies beat 1 army, 1 army ties vs 1 army.  The hitch is, you can only have 1 army per territory.  The fact that you have so few armies necessitates working with the other 6 players on the board to form alliances, since an evenly matched country fight would stalemate quickly.  Also, all moves happen simultaneously (no turns), so you have to guess at what everyone else is going to do.

It's the outguessing, making/breaking of alliances, combined with the necessary negotations, that makes the game a blast.

In the online version, orders are processed every few days (3 days in the AH Oclub games I've played in).  You have the time in between to strategize and negotiate with other players by email.  It's all web based, so nothing to buy.

Assuming you don't get wiped out early, a game will probably go on for months before someone wins.

ed: If that sounds interesting, here's a good page with the original boardgame rules, as well as FAQ's and strategy stuff.
