 In reality (a shame too) the radar in the MA being changed or modified isn't likely.  What are the chances that the CT overhaul can be brought from the MA for discussion into the ubb here?  
 Hitech or Pyro, what is possible? What is taboo and unchangeable?

I suggest you try the early jet fighters out. I think it's a great idea and I doubt the CT will be empty ever again. Also, you'd probably get a lot of different people playing instead of people choosing to play either MA or CT.

Man, this is a no-brainer.

In real war, the reward for going to war was real estate.  Guys didn't fly to find a furball for ONLY the purpose of being rewarded for the kill, they didn't bomb the crap out of a city in order to 'feel good about landing and surviving'...they did it for the big picture of CAPTURE!

Set CT up with rotating maps once a month.(Or, auto-change theatres with with "War is over")

ETO, then PTO, pick a map for either.(Channel map once, then Norway, or Philippines, then ??)

Enable field capture.

Limted icons, 3k or less for friendly,none for enemy.

Disable bar dar below 500 feet OR disable dot dar.(Its my opinion that some sort of dar should be avail, so folks CAN find a fight)

Make it 1945, enable all planes for that Theatre, or, make it 1941 first week, 1942 second week, etc.

Its a no -brainer...allow field capture and they will come.

Most of all, forget what other sims did, this is AH, it has had almost a 33% customer base increase lately, the sooner they do something with it the better, there are alot here that are ready for something new (Some have moved onto IL-2 until some kind of new arena or version draws their interest once again) and the new guys are willing to give something different a try...lets DO it!  Throw something together..if it doesn't work, the population within that arena on a given week-end night will tell ya.

I agree 100% Ripsnort. I'd prefer a CT to an MA any day. Although there are times I have time only for a qucik flight in which case the MA would suffice.
 Pyro was soliciting input in the MA and I created this topic to try and get it the ball rolling here on the ubb. In the general forumn or the CT forumn matters not imo.
 My wish is for HTC to be involved with us (the players) in a discussion on this by way of official input and direction.

several people may not agree with this statement, but one of the BIGGEST things i like best about ct, and hope that with whatever changes are made that this aspect of it stays the same, is the fact that they're only TWO teams (allies vs axis).  this, coupled with the fact that each team can only fly the planes associated with their side.  (why in God's name these sims have to have three teams is beyond me.)

as far as the other ideas, fine.  i just hope it doesn't become another "ma".  i like smaller numbers, as long as it's enough to have some good play time while in the arena.

all of the ideas i've seen on this post sound good, but again, my main concern is that we keep it simple: ie, two teams with respective aircraft.

seriously rip... let me see if i have got this straight.

You say that everyone will want limited dar.. no dot?  and limited icons.  short range.

you further state that everyone will come if it is a rolling planeset with planesets changing each week?

In your opinion would it also be a "no brainer" that everyone wanted 2 sides allied vs axis?  or would it be 3 sides anything goes like the MA?

I have no idea what anyone wants except for me and maybe a dozen or so guys I talk with but I say..... What have you got to lose?  If that's what everyone else want's then give it to em.

Lazs I think you can look at WB2 for an answer.  No dot dar in flight and I never remember having trouble finding something to do.  And when they came out with an Axis vs. Allies arena, it was so successful that it replaced the MA.

BTW Pyro is asking for volunteers to operate the arena.  Check the CT forum.

Well heres my 2cents worth...

2 sides (allied vs axis)
rotating maps as suggested above
no inflight dot dar and no bar-dar under 500ft.
RPS as suggested above
base capture with full strat on
beef up CV's and add additonal fleets where appropriate

Well I think that covers all the bases  :)
Pretty much what has already been said but just putting my vote behind it.

Quick question:  The no bar-dar below 500ft part...  is that 500ft from sea-level no matter where you are or just 500ft from whatever ground elevation you happen to be flying over?

I read Pyro's plee....

The new editor has only been out a few days, and i'm redoing and fixing my maps.

"I" feel i have some great H2H or CT maps that could be used. Unfortunately my time till Xmas is Nil :(

I'll be working on them and i'll post when I have one I feel is worthy ( with the set-up, I think will work). I'll announce a time and date I will open it up H2H, and ANYONE that is interested or would like to ADD some feedback will be able to do so.

Awhile back i opened up a map with icons off with PAC axis and allied planeset. We all had a blast. I got the "sweaty" palms i get when flying senerios. The anticipation of an Icon coming toward you, not knowing if friendly or enemy TILL you can visually detect it is..... well very exciting.

I really like Rips idea on icons. 3.0 for friendly, no icons for enemy!

 But seriously, no icons are a lot of fun. I remember playing those sorts of games with Jekyll or NUTZZ, or Zapkin even (sometimes) in the H2H games before I came into MA. The intensity was high, you really had to work to try and keep track of the enemy, some defensive ACMs were way more effective(come to think of it now), and you had to maneuver right - get real close - or you'd be wasting bullets most of the time. SA was  as important as it could ever be in AH... and as the attacker, the bounces were exhilarating to do, and immensely fearful when you were the defender.

 I'm all for no enemy icons in the CT!

Historical terrain, historical plane matchups, 2 sided terrain, no enemy dot dar, reduced icon range for enemy fiters, rolling plane sets...like the man said, 1 week '41, 2nd week 42, maybe every 2 or 3 days, ect, rolling theatre's as well, every 2 to 4 weeks another ,  base capture enabled, clouds on the deck and socked in airfields.  Realistic wind levels. Full vehicle activation. Increased cv hardness. Two days a month shut down the ma and have a full blown two sided historicaly matched up war.

I think the best thing to do would be to make it a 2-sided arena with axis vs allies planeset...

Then gradually change the settings from there, a little at a time, until you have what the majority of CT fliers want.
