Right, trivia over. Fairly sad reporting - surely there must be something important the Reuters hacks could be working on... they're as bad as ripsnort. ;)

Maybe the cloned Hitler will file suit against the US military for copyright infringement on the Iron Hammer useage.

I don't see this as proof that the media is controlled by some liberal mastermind...quite the opposite. There was no mind, master or otherwise, at work, period. I bet the Nazi's had men they called "Soldiers" and "Officers". Does that mean every American soldier or officer is a Nazi? Not by the longest of shots.

It's a pretty insignificant article but i honestly don't think it is trying to draw comparisons between Bush and Hitler or the US and wartime Germany. I read as suggesting that choosing this name is a pit of faux pas as it was, unknown to the people who choose it, used by the Nazis. Nothing more nothing less.

I strongly disagree, Niknak.
Its another not so subtle attempt by certain media outlets to insult this administration. Nothing wrong with that, because god knows they've got plenty to work with, but a story like this is simply silly and an embarassment to the service who decided to publish it.

"Eisenhammer" is a natural german word while "Iron Hammer" is a stupid unnatural combination in English.
Hammers are iron by default and the material only specified when they are not made of iron - like "bronze hammer".
Anyway, the disignation "Iron Hammer" is just another example of a smithy fetish someone has in US military operation-naming department.
"Operation Blast Furnace" - Bolivia
"Operation Joint Forge" - Bosnia
"Operation Noble Anvil" - Kosovo
There are probably more ineptly named ones if anyone cares to search.
