Title: Wind up the Aussies!
Post by: Saintaw on November 19, 2003, 06:15:10 AM
If you fancy winding up the Aussies before next weekend, hijack this Sydney Morning Herald poll. Go to http://smh.com.au/polls/sport/form.html and vote that England were "Scintillating", then pass this message on to as many England rugby fansas you know.
Currently the Aussie Pomie bashing has continued but as of 9.30am Tuesday morning, 80% of the vote said England were scintillating during Sunday's game!!!!

Have you seen what the poll has changed into?

I think we've been rumbled!

Why would anyone do that?  Unlike the Brits, most people actually LIKE the Aussies.

Isn't Australia still a prison camp for England?

Whatever gave you the impression we didn't like the Aussies? It's like fighting with your little sister: you like her really but you can't help but enjoy winding her up. :)

Exactly :)

Seems to be the favourite pastime of British Commonwealth nations....taking the piss outta each other, but  there is a mutual respect and pride underlying the whole thing I think.
Too many of our forefathers have fought, bled and died side by side for there to be any real malice in our teasing.
Just like a little sister or brother ( or an old whinging aunt in England's case ;) ) you will happily wind 'em up till they cry, but if an outsider hurts them....look out!!

'Cept of course when it comes to some game the poms invented, taught to the 'colonials', and have lost at ever since .
Then when we say they suck, we mean it;)
Its just not cricket old chap.

He he, pretty sure Dago meant that the other way, BTW :)

PS, the results of the new survey on that page suprise me, didnt think we had that many milksop, limpwristed, easily offended crybabies about., must be all the expat kiwis, poms, canucks , seth efricans etc eh? :)

Nah I just think you lot are stressed out that we might actually win something for a change! Then you'll have to find something else than beating the poms at everything to define your national identity :).

Would've rather had the Frogs (soz Straffo ;) ) win it than the bloody poms...we'll never ever ever hear the end of it (till the next cricket match mind you)  :D

Barry John, David Campese and Jonny Wilkinson are standing before God at the
throne of Heaven. God looks at them and says; "before granting you a place
at my side, I must first ask you what you believe in."

Addressing Barry John first he asks, "what do you believe?"

Barry John looks God in the eye and states passionately, "I believe Rugby to
be the food of life in Wales. Nothing else brings such unbridled joy to so
many people from the Valleys and Vales. I have devoted my life to bring such
joy to people who stood on the terraces of the Cardiff Arms Park supporting
their country."

God looks up and offers Barry John the seat to his left.

He then turns to David Campese , "and you, David , what do you believe?"

Campo stands tall and proud, "I believe courage, honour, passion and flair
are the fundamentals to life and I've spent my whole playing career
providing a living embodiment of these traits."

God, moved by the passion of the speech offers Campese the seat to his
right.

Finally, he turns to Jonny Wilkinson , "and you, Jonny, what do you
believe?"

"I believe" says Jonny "you're sitting in my seat."

C'MON ENGLAND!!!!

Can I just take this opportunity to say that any game that uses a ball that is not spherical is just wrong.

Sincerely,
