We're very happy with the results, but we still have a lot of work left to do to get the existing plane models integrated with the new changes in the flight engine.

Bah...take all the time you need!!!  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Well, Spits need a chance  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

And I trust HTC will make the changes balancing.

RAM,
true, but turn fighters like the Spit, C.202, N1K2 and A6M5b are going to benefit from this more than the BnZ aircraft.

Keep in mind, I fly Bf109G-10s, one of the aircraft that will be least affected by this.   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

How do you know that G10 will be least affected that Spitfire?  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Pyro said there was some work still to adapt the planes to the new FM...but said nothing about WICH planes would be better in this regard  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) only that they'd lose less speed...ALL of them  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Still they'll lose speed...and E-fighting in my A8 will be easier because the less E burned  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

It sounds like they are leaning towards more of a WB type FM. Might speed the game up some. We,ll see.

RAM,
I know that the G-10 will be less affected by it because unlike the Spitfire, it does not live and die by its turning.  It lives and dies by its speed and climb.   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

But the real comparison will stay the same between planes...it Spit  loses less speed in a turn, then 109 will do it too ,and so 190, and so F4U, and so...

Planes will turn better. all of them. I dont see how will this change the bassic ACMs used in AH...

THe one who starts turning will die at the hands of the one bouncing him in E-fighting...

So my guess is that you'll stay in the G10   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I know I'll stay in a G-10.  The fact is though, the Zero and Spitfire will probably be able to do hard brakes 30% longer or so, which means they'll require an extra pass or two to kill.

Here's another thought, if we can turn better, will we shed wings more readily?

Hmmm...I really LIKED the fact that E-bleed was greater in AH than any other sim I've tried to date.I tried applying lessons taught in Shaws Fighter Combat in WB and nothing seemed to work until I flew AH a while. Then I learned that it was possible to transition from angles tactics to energy tactics and back, when needed.I don't claim to be proficient at this but I'm learning (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif).
Well,my main want in a flight-sim is FM realism and if HTC are convinced the coming changes are more real world physically correct,I have to believe they know better than I!

I do have one question about this. The wings tearing off planes(some times at suprisingly slow speeds)has been a real problem. Will anything be done about this, in conjunction with the FM changes?

I often as not use all kinds of tricks to scrub speed in a N1k2 to keep the wings on during a pass.

Yeah that's a good thread.  A lot of hot air, but in the end some good information.  The only real life data presented was from the NII-VVS.  Of the planes that we have data for, it looks like WB turn rates are about 15% too fast, and the AH turn rates are about 15% too slow.  It should be interesting to fly the new models.

If Pyro says he likes the new numbers thats good enough for me.

Until we've got it in our grubby little hands everything else is speculation.

Was looking at that thread as -lazs- got bashed for his opinions. Then when HTC goes and does just that everyone is all for it.

What a joke.

Well, the fat bald toothless one can be a pain in the ass, but he does call 'em as he sees 'em.  In this case, his (cough) observations may turn out to have produced an improvement in the in AH flight model.

In any case, I'm looking forward to trying out the FM, though I've been having a great time with the current one.

I don't know what's so funny about it.  That lazs made a post to get a reaction out of people and did?  Gee, like that's real hard.  It doesn't matter how valid your point may be, if you post it in the form of a troll, you only undermine your point.  His initial point was an unreferenced opinion that we did something in this area for gameplay purposes.  How does that help us?  We didn't do that so it's not exactly like we can just go and change it back to normal.  Not to pick on lazs, as he does go on to make his points later in the thread, but I'd bet that lazs would freely admit that he intentionally tries to bait people with many of his posts.

If you want to credit somebody for getting us to go over all this stuff, credit Wells(not just from that thread but others) and look at how he approached it.

There is no perfect flight model, when we were working on WB, we made major changes in the flight engine several times.  There is always something that can be done better.  But the first step is to validly identify something as off(not usually a cut and dry case), then you have to determine the cause, then whether it's feasible to change, and finally figure how to make the change and have it work.  Then you get to go do it.

In the end, we don't do things any different now than we have for the past five years.  We're always looking to improve things and will continue to do so, but in a considered and thought-out approach.

Dont get me wrong pyro.

I think its great that you are gonna improve the FM. The thing i find funny is all the chearleaders  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) that said that WB´s FM felt "arcadish" and now the AH´s FM are gonna be more like the WB one.

The reason I attacked Lazs in that thread is because I'm not convinced he really gives a damn about any plane other than his beloved F4U. He will go on and on and on until his ride of choice can compete favorably with any other plane, in any situation.

Ya I know, he didn't really come out and mention the Corsair by name at first, but anyone who knows Lazs... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

As far as thinking AH's flight model is "better" than WB's? Well, as I've said before, it's different, and IMHO, more difficult to master.

And even when these "adjustments" are made in 1.04, I still think there will be a marked difference between the two.

pyro... never have took credit for anything.  Just like the old six view issue,  (u remmember that one?) all I do is point out that the emperor has no clothes.   eventually a couple of tailors jump in and prove it.
