Title: Quick Question
Post by: DroversDog on November 22, 2003, 08:00:29 AM
Hi, wont take up much of your time. Last night I was droning about in a P51B with very little fuel to make my way home when i was set upon by an La7.

Now after a few turns I managed to put a few rounds into his cockpit where upon he decided to leave. Lucky me as I promptly ran out of fuel.

With the La7 departing the scene I lowered the flaps and gear and put it down neatly. Waited a while, then ended the flight.

The server message was.. captured and shot down by xxxx. Now the captured I can live with. But why shot down?

Thanks:confused:

I've always thought proxy kill were set too far out in MA it prolly wasn't even the la7 who got the kill, just someone close by.

Similar thing has happend to me in H2H, only in my favour...

Messing about in a FW190-A8 when I was set upon by a spit. I started defensive manouvers, got him in my sights, let off a couple of shots and completely missed (I think).

Spit then crashed of his own accord and I was awarded the kill. I must have just clipped him or something. Strange, huh?

A proxy kill is such bull in Aces High. If you are within about let's say 2.0K of an enemy with no other enemy around and no other friendlies and say he crashes you get the kill. I've gotten like 4 proxy kills sometimes in like a 10 kill sortie, they are kinda nice, but you feel bad because you didn't even kill the bastige.

Drovers, you landed in hostile territroy so two things are possible: when you ended mission someone got a proxy kill on you(they were w/in 2.0 of you), or you had been pinged by someone earlier in your flight and that person had not yet ended his mission.  Happy hunting.
