Dumb arse coach. 2:30 left in the game, raiders have the ball deep in chiefs territory down by three. Chiefs have 1 time out left. Instead of running time off the clock before kicking the tying field goal, they throw 3 quick incompletes to leave the chiefs 2:21 on the clock and didn't force them to burn their last time out. Brilliant. Talk about giving a game away. That coach couldn't make it in the arena league.

I can't believe I watched the game thinking it was OT when the Chiefs got the OFF interference. Nice prevent D lining up the DB's 15 yards to give them 14 yards and a field goal. It was disappointing to watch as a Pigskin Pickem fan, imagine being in the Gayder Nation. It would make you want to break your paper-mache spiked shoulderpads, and throw away your pirate kit with eye-patch and face paint combo.

I'm rooting for 3-13. We need draft picks.

Well, if they go with a running play on first down and let the clock run, the chiefs will have to burn a time out, or let it run down to the two minute warning. If they dont burn the time out, that leaves 2:00 on the clock and the raiders two running plays worth 80 seconds. If the chiefs burn a time out, then both plays are worth about 45 seconds and the chiefs would be left after kickoff with about a minute and no time outs.
If you get a first down by running the ball, you kick on the last play(raiders had 2 time outs),you get it to overtime, and more than likely just a coin flip away from winning the ballgame.
Patriots have a shot(albeit very slim) at getting home field through the playoffs. I knew when they left that much time on the clock that Janakowski's kick was moot. The coach of the raiders put the chiefs offense(one of, if not the best in football) in a position to win the ballgame.
sigh

Well, as Herman Edwards said "you play to win", but yes, raiders could use the picks. How about that patriots draft, they have at least 6 rookies starting or making significant contributions and acquired extra picks for next years draft. They have 2 firsts, 2 seconds, a third, and two 4th round picks in what is said to be the deepest draft in years.

Thats great.....if you can afford to sign 'em all after you draft 'em.

Lots of cap room with the retirements of Gannon, Rice, Brown, Woodson, and Armstrong.

Maybe they could pick Jason White up, he is already as accurate as Gannon, and would probably do better under pressure after a a year or two. Rice could be replaced by any number of great recievers, although the one from OSU would be another great pick. Ah well, I'd like to see White go to a better team than the Raiders anyways. :D

Pats are in decent cap shape too. But I like their moves in the draft. Miami was desparate for picks being close to having a superbowl team, so they traded next years 2nd round pick for one of our thirds in last years. They also sent one of two first round picks last year to Baltimore(who picked kyle boller) for Baltimore's 2nd round pick(41st) last year and their first round pick next year.
You never have to worry about cap room. You can always parlay the picks you have into more picks for the future.

Don't worry...I've watched the Chiefs lose for 35 years....they are not a playoff caliber team inspite of their record.
-
Yeah... defenses rule supreme in the playoffs... and KC is sorely lacking there.

Tampa's first and second round picks weren't enough? ;)

No way you're getting the first overal, The Chargers have a one game lead, and will undoubtedly lose the season finale. Then, they will trade the 1st overall pick, for the 32nd, and an old copy of hustler (from the 70s) will draft a RB nobody has heard of from Central Hillbilly Tech, and contine the losing traditions of the last seven years.

you want to talk about stink?
How about having a 17 point lead with 7 min. left in a game, and losing my 3?

The Bucs did it first, I believe, and they did it with a 21-point lead. So there! :p

It might be a good time to try to land a solid college coach. As mentioned above, next years draft is said to be a very deep one. When Dallas built their dynasty of the 90's, is was not just the Herschel Walker trade itself(Vikings got robbed). It was the fact that dallas did not waste those picks(like the Pats did when they got all those picks from the jets for Parcells).
Jimmy Johnson came into that draft having the benefit of not only seeing the talent in the draft on film, but also having game planned for alot of them as coach of Miami. They scored in the draft and the rest is history.
Maybe trade away some of the older players, acquire some 3rd through 7th round picks, anything to get those extra picks. Even if you don't use the picks, you can make them more valuable. A 4th and 5th rounder can be a 3th and 4th next year, maybe packaged for a 2nd rounder next year. Maybe packaged to move up to the 3rd in this years draft.
The Patriots went into last years draft with 13 picks. They used 10 and came away with an extra 1st and 2nd rounder in next years draft. Sweet.
I know this would be rebuilding, but rebuilding does not have to mean losing. The Patriots won a superbowl while rebuilding.

The most interesting thing about the Chargers and Raiders is when they play the last game of the season against each other. Here's hoping for Doug Flutie vs Rob Johnson in a grudge match :)
-
Could be a critical game for draft position. Go Bolts!

Thank god for the Raiders, Steelers, Jags, Chargers, Lions, Falcons and Cardinals.
