I live in Jacksonville, Florida and was sitting at stop light on St. Johns and Atlantic. Off to my right is Craig Airfield. It’s foggy as hell out and I have my window down and I hear what sounds like a small plane coming into land or taking off. It’s so foggy I don’t see anything. As the light changes I hear a crash and the sounds of trees or branches breaking. It wasn’t really loud so I was unsure what it was.
I only live a few miles from there and head on home. I get in the house and take my dog for a walk. I then turn on the TV and news flashes "Plane Crashes at Craig Field” and news crews are on the way. Apparently a small plane crashed presumably from the fog. There’s a defense wooded area east of the airport I can only assume the plane went down there.
There's no report of casualties yet.
Hell of a way to start Thanksgiving.

A plane carrying five members of a Texas family crashed in a wooded area in east Arlington early Thanksgiving morning, killing the pilot and injuring the passengers, as other family members waited for their loved ones to arrive at nearby Craig Municipal Airport.
Jacksonville police Officer Robert Swanson and his mother were waiting at the small airport for his brother, George Charles Swanson, to land his plane when they heard about the crash. Robert Swanson drove to the scene to hear the news first-hand from rescuers, said Ken Jefferson of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
George Swanson, 56, was piloting a twin-engine turboprop when it crashed into a wooded lot behind the BJ's Wholesale Club on Atlantic Boulevard near Kernan Boulevard.
At the time of the accident about 8 a.m., the area was shrouded in dense fog.
Swanson was pronounced dead at the scene. Jennifer Swanson, 22, Karen Swanson, 19, Catherine Swanson, 24, and George Charles Swanson, 18, were taken to Shands Jacksonville hospital. Most of the survivors were expected to be treated and later released, authorities said.
Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford said the plane had departed from the Port Arthur, Texas, area and was trying to land at Craig Municipal Airport when it went down about 8 a.m. He said the damage was severe.
