BERLIN (Reuters) - Germans, shedding a six decade long aversion to national heroes, picked Konrad Adenauer ahead of Martin Luther and Karl Marx as "best German" of all time in a popular television contest amid a rising tide of patriotism.
In a country that since the Hitler era dared not show pride in anything but its beloved Deutschemark currency, millions of television viewers cast ballots in a three-month long search for national heroes before selecting the first West German leader.
But Claudia Schiffer and Nobel-prize winning author Guenter Grass were not even among the first 100.

How could Claudia not be in the top 100 best Deutche?
My god the tragedy....

LOL - Claudia Schiffer is getting old and ugly - like all models. She will be forgotten soon.
Try to read something about Adenauer - then you will know why still today so many germans are thankful that he was the Kanzler of the Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
I am only sorry that another great german politician, Willy Brandt, was not in the Top-3.

The old Konrad was very smart and ahead of his time !
(well I can say the same of the facing frog ;))

Konrad Adenauer is obviously a good choice as the top German, as he was a vital leader in the rebirth of the German nation.
But no room in the top 100 for a hot babe?
Yes, Claudia is getting older, but she's a lot better looking than Konrad.
:D

Karl Marx needs to be dug up and kicked in the head on general principles. I was going to Schwerin in the old east a few months ago and its still kinda crappy and run down. Kinda like nebraska,

Karl Marx? I guess he edged out Hitler in the most murderous and destructive German of all time category... I wonder if any one man was ever so singularly responsible for the ultimate horrific deaths and/or utter subjegation of so many hundreds of millions even billions of people...
