I just can't get out of this funk.
Nothing in AH appeals to me anymore. I flew Strat forever and decided no matter what I did, Strat really has little effect on AH. So I switched to Furballing. Just upping a fighter, looking for an even fight, and getting it on.
That worked for a while, but it's gotten old too. GVs don't do it for me, so where does that leave me?
I've logged I think 2 hours in November..about 1/15th of my normal game time.
It used to be, I could not wait to get home and play AH. Now, I sit around and watch the History channel instead.
Could the love affair that lasted 3 years with AH finally be over?
This little vacation I've been taking is starting to look permanent.
Anyone else feeling burned out, or is it just me?

Ever tried any of the Special Events? I think they are what has kept my interest through 5.5 years of AW/AH :) Check the Calendar above and watch out for Special Events Announcements. I also produce my own Events Calendar (http://www.flos.clara.net/storage/EventsCalendar.htm) which you may wish to bookmark..... Come along to the SEA and have fun.

Thanks, Flossy. I bookmarked it. I usually play Friday TOD. Maybe I'll try some new ones.
-
Take the wife out to a Hedonism Club for a weekend away.
That'll light your fire. ;)
Course it won't help for AH...but it is a good suggestion anyway IMHO. :)

come play in the hth...nothing like killing baby seals (then having unmoderated trash talk sessions right after) ;)

Snapshots Wed at 10:00 EST.
CAP Saturdays at 5:30 EST.
Join a Squad Op squad, they are Fridays at 11:00 EST and Sundays at 3:00 EST.
Scenarios when they run.
The CT when you dont do the above.
and leave the MA behind...

Muck, cleanse yourself through punishment.... fly a P40.
I've had farts that climb faster than that damned thing!

Up with a couple MAW's and do a buff mission, i always find that a fun filling objective.

its the law of diminishing returns.
its simple human nature to get bored with somthing that gets old and dosnt get updated frequently.
HTC should be mindful of this in the time between updates. each update has gotten exponentially longer in the time it takes to release and that does not bode well for the longevity of the game.
new stuff is good because its new but new stuff gets old quick and needs to be replaced by more new stuff, HTCs update model should stay ahead of this curve through steady small updates the way they used to when AH first started.
lately the only thing keeping me playing AH is the other players that fly in my b17 8th airforce recreation missions and furballing with my squad or lonewulfing.
il2FB because I just purchased it has been fun to play and have been playing that more than AH in simple offline quick combat mode.
my pc is too crappy to run the actual campaigns :D but that game feels like flying to me, im a commercial rated pilot and have 500+ hours in everything from t6 texans, cessnas, kingairs and pitts s2c's
and i gotta say when I fly in il2 in just 1v1 fights and im seeing the view from the cockpit, watching the plane shake a tiny bit from turbulence as i enter a cumulus cloud or as I am pulling into a high g stall, I'm turning in a hard chendelle in a p47d22 after a 190d9 and they cross the blinding sun.
when I fly IL2 then go fly real planes I'm amazed by things in that game visually like the atmosphere (the sky) I look at the real thing and think.. "god i never noticed the atmosphere looked like that till I played IL2!"
lol the atmospherics and sense of flying in actual air is somthing ive not seen captured anywhere else and frankly Aces High has fallen behind in terms of on the edge (very high or stall speed) flight model as well (still cant do a decent realistic hammerhead in AH). AH still has the best individual plane performance accuracy though and that is 75% of what counts in online flying.

It's really quite simple.....
your waiting for the next best thing. Back in 1999 it WAS AH...before that it was WB..before that AW. Obviously there have been a lot of wantabe's during those years...
Maybe AHII will be the next best thing...maybe not...
In the meantime try the CT.

sure it wasn't the osti to?

I've been having the same problem lately; my solution has been to shift my play style. Basically, I'm flying the 109g2 and f4, along with the spit5, much more. Instead of zooming furballs in a 190, I go looking for 1v1s. Especially in the 109s, the fighting style is completely different from that of the 190s. So the types of fights I look for are different; I'll up in a sector that has a small red bar and no green bar. In a 190, I generally prefer to head to a sector with both green and red bars maxed out.

I hear that the P40 has been relighting some fires lately. Oh wait, I think they were just burning. ;)

oh yeah.... always loved GVs myself..... the Flakpanzer in AW and the Osty here. Great for field defence. :)

I have to quit AH for awhile, and then come back.It is very easy to get tired of the same old thing all the time.
I agree with the others.Mix it up,fly different planes, and styles of fighting.
Fester is right about IL2FB.It is a lot of fun,and the eye candy is very nice.
I also wish the updates would come more frequently.I get the feeling that HTC is becoming mired down with AH2,and now they are pushing the other update.
That being said, AH is still the best, and that is proven by the number of people that fly it.
Take a break, work on things you aren't good at,and you will get back in the groove. I always come back with a better outlook.

Muck,
I took a two year hiatus. Flew my first hops back today. I am stoked and can't wait to get back online again. Sadly, two years away did nothing for my skills. Today though I mastered one skill. Appearing in someone elses' gunsight.
My only point being that sometimes you need a break. I flew WarBirds and then AH from 1996 through 2001 and I was burnt. The break was nice and now I am fired up all over again. Maybe you won't need two years though. I hope not because I need folks clearing my 6....

Muck don't be concerned. If more time is needed then take it. I've been on a timeout also, had a whole 3 hours last tour. Did other things related, stayed up on the boards.
Up tonight, new tour and had fun. Don't make more than it is. The juices will appear. My best fun is flying with the guys and we've all been sporadic lately at best.
It's all good. I'm in since 98 and the juice is part of my blood. Good fight tonight in a D, when I could see through the rust.. Could never fly that plane even when I wasn't rusty.
Cya's up.

A hiatus from the game isn't that uncommon after you've been at it for a while. I'm well into my second decade of this stuff and I spend more time away from these sims than at them now. The interst comes and goes, for reason I can't explain.
Best bet is to just take some time away...might be a week, a month, a year, or a couple years. You'll figure that one out as you go.
-
I have'nt played in a week or so.. still givin HTC my support subscription-wise, though. :)
SimCity4 has my heart right now.
-
SIMCITY ?????????????
Ah jeez may the lord have mercy on your soul..
-
Same here, Muck.
Waiting for AHII, playing WWIIOL meanwhile. Planes suck bad, but ground warfare... oh boy! :D
Cheers,

"Fuel" your interest before logging in; the lemming-horde seems to make more sense when properly "fueled".
OK, it' doesn't make any more sense... but it doesn't seem to bother me as much when I'm "fully fueled".
