Stopped at my Sister-in-law's home in Woodbury.
1. People are extremely friendly, and knowledgable about the neighborhood. We took her 2 golden retrievers for a walk and were stopped 3 times by people driving or walking by to say hello and to ask if we were related to my Sisiter-in-law. Amazing and a little weird. If someone driving by in a car here slows down near you it probably means a drive-by in process.
2. No one has fences around their back yards. Not because of any rules or ordinances, just because the kids have more room to play that way. Here, I'd like to add barbed wire to the top of my brick walls.
3. It's freakin cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Aww, it's like mom and apple pie and that chit... :)
-
Welcome to the world outside of the coastal ****hole states. :)
-
I feel sorry for the neighbors when those two dingos go running wild in the neighborhood because the yard isn't fenced in. :p
-
Yeah, Minnesota is the friendliest place I've ever been. People are laid back and civil, completely unaware of how crappy the rest of the country is. I may move there some day, I hope east-coasters haven't discovered it by then.

That's because EVERYONE is related. They were just seeing just how closely they would be related to you.

You went to Woodbury and didn't take the time to stop and see me?
Where's the love?

No reaction to my post banana?
Darn..what a waste of time writing it. :p

Curval, first of all, there isn't anyone in Minnesota who can play the banjo. Second of all, even if there were, they would have the decency not to.
Just because half the state's last name is Johnson or Olson, don't read anything into it. Incest really has nothing to do with it....no really, it doesn't.

No chit, i'd have to look north to see you. :p

can you play dueling-banjos on the accordian? :(
thats a scarey thought, "deliverance, the polka version"

Yeah, I like it here in Minnesota. Moved here 18 yrs ago for a job, decided to stay. I grew up in NW Indiana, between the south side of Chicago and Gary IN. Its alot nicer here to say the least.a
Hey RC, if ya wanna move up, let me know and I will give ya some ideas. If you like to hunt, deer hunting here is awesome. If you dont get a deer, its only because you missed.
Fishing is of course almost a requirement. The city I live in has 3 good and pretty large lakes. Gotta go up north for the really good stuff.
Crime is lower than anywhere else I have ever lived. Pollution is nowhere near where I grew up, the roads are clean and the school systems are on average very good. Easy to find excellant ones.
Housing is a little high, as are taxes, mosquitos are annoying at sunup and sundown. Plus, we have a surplus of pesky liberals in the state, but we did just get the CCW "must issue" law passed 6 months ago.

Woodbury? I am sending a driver there tomorrow morning to pick up some stuff at Sam's.
Are you near Cottage Grove, banana? The company I work for has a plant there.....its called Up North Plastics. They are a division of Poly America, the makers of "Husky" brand trash bags and plastic sheeting that you buy at Home Depot and Lowe's, etc.

banana is south a ways from Woodbury and Cottage Grove.

I used to know a guy that worked in Shipping at Poly America in Ft.Worth. Big Hispanic guy that was funny as hell...wish I could remember his name.

Its a pretty big company......I dont know many of the shipping guys other than the supervisor. I work in dispatch and handle both of our truck fleets from here in Grand Prairie as well as out of Minnesota.

isn't that place like allmost all middle class white guys?

Dago belongs to what we Minnesotans call "our token Republican party". I suppose every state has to have them, but we try to keep ours as small as possible.
Sling, I live in the SE corner of MN, in Rochester, which is the home of the Mayo Clinic. Cottage Grove is about 60 miles N of me.

Yes, we only allow white people of nordic heritage to live in Minnesota. And you must enjoy eating hotdish, and be able to speak with very long vowels. Ya sure.
Minnesohhhhhh-ta. That's better.

and isn't your border with..... well... with pretty much nothing?
still... your accent is not too anoying for a liberal area.. The donkey like braying of boston liberals comes to mind as does the fake british accents of a lot of eastern liberals.

I have it on good authority that it can get a little chilly there in the winter.
