Good perk vehicle. Only takes 5 troops so you would have to take them in pairs

Then how the hell did they crank up those 10 troops in our M-3?? as far as I know it also carries 5 troops (not in ah)

A perked halftrack? No way, thin armor (max of 15 MM on the D model), single 20mm with only 600 rounds IIRC.

Sdkfz 251(D), it is:)

I beleave it is a late Model 251/17, mit 2cm KwK 38, but the gun doesent look quiet right to me it looks like a MG 151.

Some of them did and some dident, I have sean picturs with the shield off and later models had a different gun mount, whear the sides dident fold down, kinda like the pick above, the thing about the pick above is the gun mounting and the gun it's self.

Its not that its invulnerable. It is fast and well armed and can take a base. Why not perk it?

it's neither fast nor well armored, I agree nice gun with a good amount of ammo.

Top speed is 53 K/hr, 32-33 M/hr onroad and 10K/hr, 6 M/hr offroad(I seriously think the offroad speed is a mistake) . So, considerably slower than the M-3.

A maximum of 15 MM of armor would make it very vulnerable, even to 7.92 MM and .30 cals.

Open topped and no room for troops, what with the gun mount and amunition storage.

I still don't see why it would be perked.

Because with  that armement the M3 totaly goes out of use if that vehicle is introduced. Think of what the game is like if every M3 has a gun on it considerably better then a Hispano.  It is better defended then an M3 as well. Plus its grunts are armed with Mp44s and Panzerfausts..

why not use an ostwind instead, better gun with more ammo, same speed, same lack of troops, better armor.

a bit more info on it

am I the only one who loves how any post on any vehicle/plane/boat/whatever gets turned into a perk/not-to-perk debate? :)

I know I'm just referring to this model with the 20MM, no way to fit any troops in there.

That vehicle, while technically a SdKfz 251/17, is actually an SdKfz251/1D belonging to the Panzer-Grenadier Division 'Großdeutschland'. This unit was known for their enterprising engineers. The stock vehicle was modified by the addition of an aircraft turret mounting a MG 151/20 20mm cannon with the turret glazing removed. (The division also converted several T-34 tanks by removing the turret and adding German AA guns.)

The formal SdKfz 251/17 design had a standard Flak 30/38 cannon, with extended side sections which permitted a 360° traverse of the gun; these extended sections could also be folded down to create a larger gun platform when the additional space was needed more than the minimal armor: SdKfz251/17 (http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/pit/3515/251/251-17.htm)
