Title: Almost Immediate switch to TCP
Post by: klem on December 05, 2003, 01:26:54 AM
When I get online I get the 'switched to TCP' almost immediately.

Doesn't dump me like it does in AH1 though.

running cable modem 116k/512k
Athlon1400
512Mb RAM
GF4MX440
Win98
Directx9b

I need to modify what I said - I started to get dumped every time today. It had happened once or twice before but I think now it's because I had moved the Video sliders all the way to the left. After several dumps in a row I went off line and moved them back to the middle and then I got in.

Time will tell. Watch this space.

The dumps gave me this error:

Ddhelp caused an invalid page fault in module at baaba47e
(plus stack dump etc I can give if it helps)

Then, if it helps at all, when I tried to go into AH1 I got
Runtime error!
Programme:C:\Program Files\Htc\Aces High\AcesHigh.exe
abnormal porogramme termination

I am still getting this. (Lost Host Connection) when I first enter the on-line arena. I thought it was to do with high detail setting of video sliders but not so sure now.

HT HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It dumps me back to desktop where I see

Ddhelp

This programe has perfromed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem continues, contact the program vendor

UPDATE: rebooted (as I always have to do) and loaded AH2 offline. Quit back to the entry clipboard and then it let me in on-line ok.

I am also getting an immediate dump to TCP.  However, the game continues running and I'm able to interact with the 2 or 3 other people in the arena with me.

I also had "switched to TCP" earlier on, sometimes followed by the CDT and error message above and sometimes it would stay connected ok. It went away during the previous version.

strangely enough when I do get TCP and manage to stay connected it doesn't dump me later as with AH1 which is a cert.

I get the same message when I log in, but my connection doesnt seem to suffer from it. Did some fighting back in beta 1996 or 1995 and squaddies didnt say anything about me warping.

It might be worse if there was 400 people in the arena.

Gentlmen, there isn't an outside cure for this, i get it on occasion also, might be your player number into the arena. Anyway havn't looked into the problem very deaply yet but will get to it at some point.
