Title: AAR Squad Ops 339th FG
Post by: dracon on December 06, 2003, 09:25:14 AM
Greetings,

Assigned as Axis, flying D3a Vals from the Carrier C3.  Asasigned to attack and disrupt operations at Tulagi (P-31).  8 pilots attending.

In all, we launched 7 Vals from C3 with a late pilot manning guns for skpg.

Ironblde had recently changed his handle and I had not re-invited him in the SE.  Appologies!

Launched and took a course of 030 to the 11 line and flew the 11 line East.  My plan was to continue East and double-back Westerly for the attack.  This was not to be.  We were "jumped".  We pushed the attack!  I know we took down the barracks and did interrupt base ops as ordered.  Coming off target one enemy a/c was destroyed.

In all...we had a blast!  The VAL was outdated when the war started and her max speed of 200 ias was a difficult bone-rattling ride.  We all knew our fate from the missions on-set :(

Regardless to the Ops Staff and the Axis CO Jordi

Banzai!!!

Dracon! That is tough being in Val's. Especially without escort! More than once our squad has had that happen. I have learned this, we drop our bombs and dog fight. If you can get on the tail of a slow enemy you can BB gun them to death. :D Maybe your squad can survive long enought for some help to come and then you can rearm and try again.

Val's are no easy task. Hats off to you!
