CBS New York City interrupts the New York Giants/Brooklyn Dodgers football
game to announce the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Famous American radio commentator H. V. Kaltenborn does a sum-up of what was
then known about the Pearl Harbor attack 30 minutes after it was first
reported by Franklin Roosevelt.

NBC radio concludes an episode of "Sammy Kaye's Sunday Serenade" at Radio
City, New York City, followed immediately by an announcement of the Japanese
attack on Pearl Harbor, 2:28 EST, Dec. 7th, 1941.

Shocked and off-balance, NBC follows up on the above report with a live
remote from Honolulu via telephone. An operator interrupts the call, and
while waiting to reestablish contact, news shifts to Washington D.C. and
continues on to bulletins from Honolulu, Washington, Berlin, San Francsico
and Ottawa. The shock of the moment is movingly captured in an extraordinary

to Pearl survivors. We are losing more every day, may they know peace and comfort free from the memories.

I had a PH survivor as a neighbor while growing up. He didn't talk much about it but did his own remembrance every Dec 7th.
