A lot of people, myself included, could probably learn a lot about ACM and sharpshooting by watching other people's AH films. I noticed Vermillion posted his in another thread and we were able to download a zipped AH film file from his web site. It was great! How about some other contributions? I would of course welcome the films in an email if you cannot post it somewhere, and would be happy to forward it. Is there a way of posting them somewhere here on the BBS?
Thank, Teeder1

I personally would wait until they've stopped updating the film player. Because each time they do, it makes old films unplayable

I think a good option would be if it was possible to view the film how the pilot saw things inflight.
By that I mean to be able to see how he changed views when in combat.
Could teach people more about Situational Awareness.
Also let us see the blackouts/redouts and possibly a visual sign of stallhorn so we can see how close to the edge they were flying.

Good points, Glars, couldn't agree more.
Too bad we lose clouds too. I have cloud surprise attack films which look funny without clouds (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Glars, another good option would be to see how the OPPONENT saw the fight. In HT's original VFilm for AW, you could switch between the cockpits of a number of planes.
It even gave you details of opponents throttle settings, joystick movements and flap positions.
Hope we'll see something like this in Aces High.

Glars,
You will note that there is already a visual cue as to how close to the edge I'm flying. When the plane performs a nasty little twist then proceeds towards the ground in a rapid fashion usually in a spinning motion I've stepped across the margin again =)
I think just the addition of sound would be enough although it would be nice to see the bullets firing from me or the cons. Keeping a track of the pilot's POV might help SA but how can you *teach* Situational Awareness? I've got a mate at work who's just recently got into flight sims and had what he described as a "moment of clarity" last week, (reformed alchoholics have similar experiences =). Against 3 other fighters he kept the fight going for over 10 minutes. He didn't know what I had been explaining about SA untill *that* moment. I'm not sure that watching someone else's POV will help all that much considering how rapidly they change and the different head positions that are stored for each pilot for each plane.

It's duel 109 vs Spitfire rather long.

Heres one of a P51 duel. Obviously my 51 has considerably more E than the enemy. Film starts out with one of my favorite reversal moves...hammerhead turn.

Glars, that is planned and setup in the code if it's not functional yet.

Any chance that some type of AVI or MPEG recorder could be also developed. It would be really nice to show friends what the game is like from the cockpit. I think it might help get the word out about this sim.

Aper:
Just watched your file, great stuff...a real battle of E, I can't believe one of you didn't stall out. Wait to stick with it, and finally get him.

I tried your link but couldn't find anything.

Here's a long one. I like to tape my sorties as a whole. The DL is about 700KB.
This is from yesterday, I winged with Nash and we had also RW on. Great fun.
www.hut.fi/u/vpitkane/LLv34/camo_w_nash.zip (http://www.hut.fi/u/vpitkane/LLv34/camo_w_nash.zip)
The zip includes a txt with a "walk-through" of the film. I'll paste it here:
----8<------8<-------
Camo's sortie, winging with Nash. Dec 14th 1999, about 10.30am GMT.
Here's a small walk-through for the film. The sortie basically consisted of 3 phases:
Phase 1: Takeoff and first fight.
We flew as Rooks, I had a 109 with 30mm, 2x20mm cannons and extra tank. Nash took a spit. F1 had been captured from the bishops, so we took off from there. We had RW set up, so you won't see much typing between us. We used RW very much to keep eachother posted on the action.
We took off and headed west, grabbing alt on the way. Soon we saw a high 109 fighting with one of ours, and soon a 205. The enemies passed us on our high left but weren't aggressive, so we didn't do anything. All of a sudden they both blew their alt advantage and dove on one ours. And just like that hadn't been enough, the 109 overspeeded to the ground!!
Not believing our eyes, Nash and I reversed and joined the fight. We arrived there with an E-advantage, and I shot the 205 down. We just couldn't believe what the enemies had just done! They had a clear advantage, and with little ease and E-fighting they could've pinned us down easily!
We continued our climb westward and started looking for more prey.
Phase 2: Nash hits the silk, I blow my pursuit.
As we climb W, I check my map and notice enemies NE of F1. We decide to head there. As we get closer, Nash gets into a fight with a spit, goes into a headon and both loose wings. Nash has to bail first, so RC is awarded the kill.
I continue my flight south past F1 and notice Flamer on my 10 oclock low, being chased by a P51. I drop my tank and dive after the pony. I'm too late, however, and Voss is credited with the kill. Voss does some evasives and I thought he is trying to engage. I pull high and grab more E. Unfortunately I misread the situation and Voss dove away heading W. I had dropped 4k behind him, and had little chance of catching him.
Phase 3: Low alt furball and rtb.
As I was chasing Voss in his P51, a high F4U appeared on my 1oc. I gave up the chase and decided to join Nash who had taken off again.
I made a circle and started to press west again. A nice low alt furball was developing, Nash and Dapimp managed to get behind Voss' pony. The hog dove from above, and pimp had to break his attack. The hog changed his course towards Nash, with me in pursuit. I warned Nash of the hog closing some 4K away, and Nash chose to break his chase of Voss. Nash blew too much E in the break, and didn't manage to get a shot at the F4U. I continued the chase, but noticed he was outrunning me.
Voss reversed and got behind me. I saw Nash too far away, so I decided to go vertical. I think I did it a bit too early, without carefully assessing Voss' E-state, but anyway managed to get away with it. Voss pinged me *a lot*, but "only" wounded the pilot. Pheeww.
Nash got behind Voss and finished him. I decided to rtb, and started my way back to F1. Nash decided to rtb a bit after be, but got engaged on the way back. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I think he went into a headon again and got himself killed.
This was clearly one of the most fun sorties in AH for me, lots of action in several fights. The use of RW is so much fun and really makes surviving easier.
Have fun while watching this, I hope you learn something from it! I hope Nash learned not to do headons! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Here's two more (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
First is a sortie with Janneh, we took off from F22 and headed for Bishop F21. I turned the camera on when we made contact. Lots of action, 2 kills and one forced landing (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) But I must bring bad luck to my wingmen (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) No RW was used. DL about 500KB.

Second is the next sortie, with the escaped spit circling hi above F22. I took off and flew to meet him. Watch how he did (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) DL about 150KB.
