Post by: mia389 on December 10, 2003, 03:36:06 PM
Sitting here getting nervous. I have my instrument checkride in a hour. I dont remember being this nervous for my private checkride. Looks like I'll log actual doing it too. Clouds at 1200. :D

Ill let ya guys know how I did later, when I get back.

Isn't this a rerun?  Isn't this all about getting your wily ways with your instructor? :)

Just dont let the needles go into the red too soon - you dont want to blow a gasket before she lands.  ;)

Well done on passing. Don't let anyone tell you now that flying is easy!
Gawd I remember my Instrument checkride......ahem both of them.  Actually it was nearly three as I originally trained for my instrument ticket in the the US but a hurricane came along, (no not the aeroplane, the storm), and mucked up the weather for the whole southern USA as well as flattening Charleston and cancelling the checkride.

But my final one in my own country was easily the most intense 2 hours of my life. 100 % concentration. Flying back home after passing it was easily the most relaxed flight in my life. I expect your feeling the same. I did the Commerical previously and it was fun in comparison.

Commerical next for you then? CFI, CFII etc etc? Then commuter airline? followed by airlines and big bucks?

$55k is a bit on the high side (by almost double)

The whole shebang up through MEI and Instrument Instructor will come in under $30,000.  Resourcefullness, employee discount and contacts keep me in my flight time (specifically multi-engine time...good to know someone with a Seneca V) so life is happy.  But what I pay out of pocket will be between 22-25k budgeted for $30k.  Hmm...maybe I will by that Pitts S1C after all....

Yes that seems a bit high, but there are differencies between flight schools and their equipment.. Does anyone know the cost of JAR certified schools in the US? I know there are some, but I haven't found any pricing info. FAA licence is useless in europe and converting means $$$ and a lot of work.
