I'm running Win XP home edition on a P-4 3.06 with 1 gig ram and ATI 9800 Pro 128 on an ASUS p4s8x-x motherboard and I cannot get any of the 2.+ versions of CH control manager software to even load the setup. The funny thing is I can run and use the 1.+ version of CH control manager and it functions OK but doesn't have the bells and whistles of the newer 2.+ versions of the software. I've downloaded several copies of the versions of CH control manager in the 2.1 and 2.2 flavors and they all extract properly and when I select the SETUP.EXE file, it just flashes for a sec and just is ignored. Any thoughts on this problem?
All assistance is greatly appreciated.
Jay

I never had the older version, but did you uninstall it first? CH even provides an app to remove old CH files.

i have 2.1, works fine. I did not however, have an old version. as daverino points out, ch is quite specific that you must remove old versions before installing the new version.
ps running xp home edition on a p2.4 800 mhz setup.

Actually I'm talking about trying to install the 2.+ version before I dug out a copy of 1.10. There was no prior CH installation before attempting to run either of the 2.+ versions.

Sounds like you may have a WIN 9X version.

No, that is the funny part. CH control manager 1.10 is a Win98 version but the 2.+ series are all win XP version. They unzip all the files to the correct directory and when I try to run the setup.exe program for them I get a quick flash and nothing. The CH Control manager software for win98 does install and work fine in my XP but it doesn't have the bells and whistles of the 2.+ series versions.:(

Nope it's not running in 98 compatability mode. I've also tried CM version3 with the same results for xp.:(

Doc:
I'm sorry you can't get CM running, because it really is very nice. I have almost exactly the same system as you, and I have never had the sort of problem you describe. I beta tested the CM 2.0 - 3.0 software, and uninstalled and installed the various versions dozens of times.
If you uninstall all versions of Control Manager, shut down your PC, plug in all of your CH devices, reboot, and open the control panel game controller applet, do all of your devices show up (e.g., as "CH Fighterstick," "CH Pro Throttle," "CH Pro Pedals")?
If you can't get this working, I'll send your problem along to the developer to see if he has any thoughts.
