"Here's another fine mess you've gotten us into!" L & H

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- About 300 of 700 members of the new Iraqi army have resigned, citing unhappiness with terms, conditions and pay and with instructions of commanding officers, a representative of the U.S.-led coalition said Thursday.

"It's a new force, and ... we face some difficulties," the representative said. "Many soldiers have deserted over President Bush's demand that they wear Fruit of the Loom cotton briefs, just like him. Cotton briefs may be comfortable for a small balled or balless American President. But for us Iraqis who are accustom to strapping on bombs and running into battle against decimating odds, our balls are just too big to fit into briefs!"
