Looks like a British Percival Proctor, or Vega Gull. Not quite exact but has a similar look

Thats my dad, if you look close under his arm, it says EXPERIMENTAL, I think the pic was taken in Lancaster Califorina in the 1930's I don't remember what he said the fellow called it, but I do remember he said it was ahead of its time. He and the guy that designed it , built it. It may very well have been one of a kind. But I thought it was worth asking. It does look much like the Percival Vega Gull,but there is no door on the left side like the gull apears to have.
