Must be a slow news day.  They actually put forth energy to report this?

This was on my local news a couple of weeks ago.  If they are going to start reporting on every single urban legend I am going to have to stop watching.

While I am on the subject, who decided that newscasters have to stand up to report some stories and sit down for others?

And here I thought somebody had busted up the O-rings in their transmission or something.

Elizabeth Cooke, a fourth-grade teacher in Baltimore County, says she was surprised when a fifth-grader told her the bracelets had “secret meanings — one being, if someone broke one it meant you have to have sex.”
“He told me that he wasn’t sure if he wanted to wear them anymore because they were stupid,” says Cooke, whose school allows the bracelets as a fashion item, if they cause no distractions.
“In my opinion,” she adds, “he shouldn’t even be thinking about sex at all.”

Heh, 5th grade is when I noticed Mallory Italiano had really nice .... eyes. :p

But Egarian — the New Jersey teen — advises parents to tread carefully.
“If my parents questioned me too much about the bracelets,” she says, “I’d probably wear them more.”

Now that I think about it, when I was in high school in the 80's, kids used to put safety pins on their coats, usually on the sleeve.  I am sure that someone saw some rockstar do it or something, I don't know where it started.  Some kids would take the time (most likely during study hall) to line 30 or 40 up going down the entire length of the sleeve.

It wasn't before long when the rumor started that kids were putting a safety pin on their coat for every time they had sex with their boyfriend/girlfiend.  It was just an urban legend but I remember what a big buzz it made around school for a while.
