B-17.

Could be possible older model Boeing B-17 "Flying Fortress?"
-
Of course it's a B-17 (the JPEG properties kinda give that away ;)) but I don't think I'd call it an "older model." Nor do I think they had a model that had the plexiglass nose and gunner positions eliminated and streamlined and the bombay modified to drop fire retardant chemicals on forrest fires during WWII.

It is not an older B-17 which is clearly seen by the shape of the fin.
Here is a photo of a PB4Y that has had its nose changed by grafting on an old B-24 nose. I watched this a/c take off from Grey Bull, Montana during the fires in 2000.

Even DC-4s have been used as water bombers. There is 2 Martin Mars flying boats based on Vancouver Island that are used to fight forest fires.

That is B17G 44-83785 in the last air tanker scheme it wore for Evergreen Aviation in the 1980s as N207EV. It had a history with the CIA as well
It is one of the finest restored B17s flying these days, still with the Evergreen Museum

Old Airwarrior types will remember that this was the 17 that one well known player claimed to own, and who had folks believing it for quite some time
