Hah!! not true according to the latest news the "occupation" is due to end in July when the new gov is sworn in - the new Gov will then "invite" the coalition to keep it's forces in Iraq and all the minor problems that have been ocurring will then vanish like the morning mist just in time for the run up for the US elections and it will all be a mgnificent victory - or so says a British Gov spokesman who obviously has never bothered to read a history book in his life.

SLO,

You lost that battle to the British in 1800's.  Your attempts to seperate from Canada failed.  Please don't give us advice you pathetic, treasonist, French wannabe.

i have an idea. i was reading 'sketchbook 1776' in that book it describes how the british paid the indians for american scalps. womens were worth a little less and children's scalps less than that. this policy could be done in iraq. pay them say $25 for every insurgent head they bring in. this would motivate then to start putting an end to fighting and lawlessness and finding those who are causeing the problems. from a cost effective point of view this would be a good plan. for every U.S. soldier killed there we pay $100,000 in life insuance. plus the thousands of dollars in there training. and think of the thousands of dollars it costs us to treat the wounded and maimed. i doubt you will see many more foreign volunteers entering iraq to fight if they did this.

1/2 of them used to be in a higher position. Those who were Captains and Majors in the former Iraqi army dont want to be stuck with the lower rank soldiers...

Engine, you may benefit from checking your numbers.

The figure is $60 a month, not per day.

Quote
Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, speaking at a news conference, said the major reason for the defections was pay, specifically allowances for married soldiers who were struggling to support their families on $60 a month.

Isn't democracy wonderful. They feel free to walk out if they don't like their pay. Imagine if they pulled that on Saddam.

Honky, not all French Canadian are separatist. I like to pick on slo about it now and then, but I think he honestly feels he's Canadian. If the majority of them were traitors, they'd have won their separation bid.

They all are Treasonist- don't kid yourself.  The onlly reason they didn't win is because of all the Non-French immigration into Qubec.  Typical of thier French roots- when your back is turned they put the Knife in your back.

Iraq's army didn't put up much of a fight during the last invasion. I believe their morale was pretty low. Will take sweeping changes in their country before the Iraqi people once again have pride and believe in themselves. It's coming.

50$ per month is 25 times what Saddam paid.  Hard to believe but true.  Of course- Saddam's Army came with "extras."  Raping-looting - on the spot executions.  Real fun.  Yes- the Saddam Army beats the US Army all to pieces when it comes to fun. :aok

Let's see.

Iraq's army has thrown out the British occupiers at least once.
Their army gained large experience during the Iran-Iraq war but as the both sides were too evenly matched they were not able to win - only draw.
Their pilots were highly skilled and well equipped. By the end of the war the Iraqian and Iranian pilots were the most combat experienced pilots of the world.

I suggest you read some military history before showing out the world your ignorance.
