Title: Lock On = Lock up
Post by: metronom on December 17, 2003, 03:20:54 AM
Just have to let it out.

Thats no Flightsimulation, it's a BSD Simulation!

I strongly recommend UBI Soft to rename the software in "Lock up"

Phhhh....
Now I feel better.

All up to date
This is the only program that doesn't run properly on my system.
I will put it on the side for a year I think. Maybe will then be a patch ( or a couple of patches) to make it a little playable.

Look on UBI's BB. Many people got probs with Lock on(up) And not a soul from UBI comes out to say something. After such experience I enjoy AH even more.

It has a few times crashed on me..
Either it plain simply has crashed into desktop or locked on the screen and then I've had to try switch the task so I can forcefully end the program.

Not the cleanest software around..

I had a lockup problem with it, but I cleaned all of my NVidia drivers off of it and re-installed them and it went away.

Yeah, it's got bugs, but I think they had to release it. It was over due and it works for alot of people, including me, but i had to upgrade RAM to run it.

Not sure about your claims, GSholz may have helped you on that myth. Good luck, but comparing it to AH is a pointless stretch, unless you are talking about the AHII Beta. If your not getting 20fps more in Lomac than that, you have a serious unique hardware problem, so post your system specs cuz something is terribly wrong. I can pry help.

My System:
Athlon 2600+
1 GB DDR Ram
AsRock K7S8X Motherboard
AMI Bios 1.90; AGP fastwrite disabled; AGP4x enabled
SIS746FX chipset
IBM-DTLA-307030 HD
Sound on Board
Sapphire Atlantis 9600pro 128MB
Omega 2.4.96c driver
Thrustmaster Afterburner FF
Windows XP pro with SP1
DirectX 9.0b

In the 5-10 min where Lock on runs I got 25-40 fps at 1024x768.
Details are at max. I tried the advice to disable the Hardware acceleration for 1 notch in the video properties, does not work for me. The BSD's and freezes (only a hardware reset helps) ocure in the game or at the closing.
I dont want to compare AH to Lock on as games. I compared the customer service. And that count more for me then a few graphic gimmicks.

Good luck.

IMHO sounds like several issues.  The hard lock is definitely a HW issue, XP's architexture prevents (if you believe MS) hardlocks due to software issues.  Also Doesn't the ATI 9600 support fastwrites? And the catalyst drivers are at 3.9, why not give those a shot...

I looked at it this way,

1. Heat
2. Pukey SIS chipset (ymmv)
