First they ruin Santa for the kids, now they are going to try and **** your kids in the head.
Peta More dangerous to your kids then NAMBLA.
If any of you petatards are here, feel free try and justify this idiocy. You will not get banned for trying to have a conversation here like on your (ROFL) Discussion forum.
Animal rights advocates will single out small children at performances of ``The Nutcracker'' in the next few weeks by handing out fliers saying ``Your Mommy Kills Animals'' to youngsters whose mothers are wearing fur.
``Children can't look up to a mom in a battered-raccoon hat or a crushed coyote collar,'' said Ingrid Newkirk, president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. ``Maybe when they're confronted by their own children's hurt looks, fur-wearers' cold hearts will melt.''
The fliers include a color drawing of a woman plunging a large bloody knife into the belly of a terrified rabbit. The fliers urge kids to ``ask your mommy how many dead animals she killed to make her fur clothes.
``And the sooner she stops wearing fur, the sooner the animals will be safe. Until then, keep your doggie or kitty friends away from mommy - she's an animal killer.''
Brookline child psychologist Dr. Carolyn Newberger called the tactics ``terribly dangerous to children.''
``It's using children in the worst possible way,'' she said. ``If (the activists) want to legitimately work to protect animals from destruction for fashion, they have every right to. But to do so by targeting children and making them feel their mothers are murderers is absolutely unconscionable.''
Lisa Franzetta, a national coordinator for PETA, said the group will launch its ``fur-ocious'' protest at `Nutcracker' performances in as many as 20 cities across the United States.
Franzetta, who is based in California, said yesterday she did not yet know when the protests will begin in Boston, where ``The Nutcracker'' is playing at the Wang Center for the Performing Arts in the Theater District.
Franzetta acknowledged the anti-fur campaign might spark a backlash. ``It's definitely provocative, I will give you that,'' she said.
Wang Center officials could not be reached for comment about the planned protests.

I am not sure if I am hitting your bait, but there is a difference. Now showing aborted fetuses is pretty nasty and I would never consider doing it, but do the righ to lifers tell their protestors to go target children?

They (pro-lifers w/signs) don't need to, the signs are out in public for all to view. Funkynuts, he wasn't making a comparison between the two causes, he was making a comparison between the way the message is presented.
The PETA extremists are the same as they always are...overtly controversial and stupid to a fault.

guess what...thanks to the SPCA those captivity bred walking coats live like kings until there killed...if you take a look at the average sized pen for a "coat" rabbit it would be the same or bigger than the average size for a pet rabbit...but PETA cant possibly allow animals to die a premature death...and when they do die...god save them from the "monsters" who put it to good use instead of leaving it to rot

My mommy didn't kill the animals. The boys in the family did that.
My mommy COOKED the animals... and she was simply outstanding at doing that.

I think peta could be sued for this. This is stepping way over the line.
Hell you can sue for just about anything! Course I am sure peta will have far more money for a good lawyer then any normal person.

Okay, this time I made up an innocuous name 'Nobody Special', posed as a leaf eater(using a brand new college e-mail I just got activated) and started a thread that forwarded the notion that this flyer idea my be just a bit too much for the tastes of the average human. I was respectful, I tried to protect the case of animal rights and I tried to explain that this campaign will damage the overall good of PETA... What happens? They deleted the thread, even though it was the most popular one on their entire Activism board and contained nothing but civil discourse on the matter... They of course banned my user ID.

In a very big way, I'm glad they behave the way they do. With that sort of mind set they're gonna get absolutely nowhere. In about twenty years, when all the sexually ambigious males in PETA have failed to procreate and they're numbers are down to single digits.... Then I'll be free to organize the hunting trip I've always dreamed of. The setting will be the pacific northwest and the game: Anemic Vegans with pale skin.

They don't do the whole 'both sides' thing... They don't believe in any other view. I guess if you really believe it's murder, there really shouldn't be another view. We differ in that we don't think eating meat is genocide. They do, hence there is no discussion.

They're too serious to have rational discussions. They are advocates for their cause, so expecting a rational discussion from them is like expecting a rational discussion on waiting periods for the purchase of firearms from a NRA member.
Extremists are extremists, no matter which side of the political spectrum you're on. It's a safe bet, however, that right wing fanatics are considered mainstream on the AHBBS because of its Texas roots. Sorry to break the news to you, but you Texans are considered nutburgers by then rest of America.

Iron, I stated in the past the PETA people are the most humorless people I've ever conversed with, so I much prefer Texans over PETA people, and as far as my farts stinking it is only when I eat too much Tex-Mex I get complaints.
Anyway they banned me on PETA2 long ago, and all you Texans have banned is dildos. You may be silly and have bad habits, but you don't say stupid crap like chickens make great pets. LOL I prefer you guys over those guys.

I do not think all NRA members are nuts who can not debate an issue, hell I am a member and I have no problem with background checks or waiting periods. Though a waiting period for a person who already owns firearms seems a tad silly.
Sub, yeah I was joking. Peta would not bother me at all if that had the meager intelligence to argue their points, but they do not seem to be able to do that.

As a card-carrying carnivore, I have a problem with the raising and killing of animals strictly for fashion. Anybody had a good Mink steak lately? No problem for meat and the full use (the fuller the use the better) of the dead animal after that for leather and fur etc. About like hunting just for the rack, etc.

GTO, the NRA position is NO restrictions on firearms ownership. The position of pro-life groups is NO abortions. The positon of PETA is NO animals killed, for meat or fur. That's what advocacy is- it's being 100% for a certain position.
The problem with that is that when you state yourself an advocate for or against a position it removes you from the viewpoint of mainstream America. In the PETA example they've made so many misstatements through the years they are no longer taken seriously by mainstream America- unfortunate, in that there's an awful lot of truth in their message, but the messengers themselves, like Greens, NRA, Sierra Club or whatever, have no creditibility.

I am not sure they have NO credibility, hell I can see some good in Petas point of view, I will never believe an animal is equal to man, but I can see no need to be cruel if it can be prevented and I see no need for pure trophy hunting either.
If they have no credibility how do they have influence? I understand the NRA has the no controls at all stance, and it is a bit silly. I only support them because they are the number one 2cnd amendment rights group, and they can influence politics, am I confusing your view of the org with your view of its members, surely you can not think all NRA peeps are nuts? Hell I know Vegans or want to be vegans that are not only not nutjobs but intelligent enough to make good points.
