Title: Newly restored CAC-13 Boomerang

The CAC-13 was a labour of love for Matthew Denning over a 27 year restoration period - it was recently brought back to a flying life earlier this year.

The aircraft is based in Queensland, Australia and can be seen at airshows shows around Australia.

Seing Matt's "Suzie Q" and Aerotech's "Millingibi Ghost" pass over at about 1500ft in formation, then doing aerobatic routines just out the back is something I get to enjoy nearly every weekend .
They fly out of the Toowoomba airfield, about 2km from my place.
Awesome sounding A/C, all you can hear is a whistle, a woosh then a ROAR!!!!!............AWESOME! :)

I'm envious mate!

He was going to do a fly over at a Tenix (sponsor) ship launch in Melbourne earlier this year,  but the weather was bad so we didn't get to see him.  I'm sure it would have been a buzz.

Matt's done a great job with the website though...very nice tribute.

wasn't the Boomerang an adaptation of the AT-6? Or am I thinking of something else?

It's cool that it is flying, but man that thing is BUTT UGLY... ehhehe:D

I believe the Wirraway was based on the AT-6 though? and the Boomerang was pretty much an adaption of  Wirraway.
So in a long, round about kind of way, the Boomerang is infact based on th AT-6.

The Wirraway was pretty much based on the North American NA16 family of aircraft.  The Boomerang, although heavily inspired by the Wirraway, was a totally new design. The story of Fred Davis who was CAC chief design engineer, is fascinating in itself. He was a German Jew who had worked for German & Japanese aircraft manufacturers but had emigrated to Australia after time in Germany & Japan. This esteemed gentleman had to report to Australian Police every fortnight whilst designing the countries front line fighter !!

Fantastic to see this aircraft flying again.
