Hi,
I've been away for awhile and look what you guys have done! Congratulations!
Anyway, I downloaded 1997 and installed it (I left standard AH installed). When I try to launch the application, I get an "Application Error" stating that the program cannot read a certain address. Standard AH works just fine. Any ideas for me?
Windows 2K Professional
GeForce2 MX/MX400
Detonator drivers
75 mhz Samsung Flat-panel display
500 MB RAM
Thanks! I'm looking forward to trying this out!

I think ya gotta load .5 first, then the .6 is auto download, Then dl the .7

Thanks for the info. I tried loading 1995 first, but got the same error. I was hoping 1997 fixed the problem.
Thanks!

Bud, did you download the full version from the news section?

HiTech,
Yes, I did load the full 1997 version (45+MB) from the news section. I had previously loaded the "5" version from there, too, with the same results.
I have tried setting my resolution from 1280x1024 to 1024x780, but that did not help. Should I try uninstalling the basic verision (regular AH) and istalling over that? I'm stumped.
Thanks!

AHII And AH do not confilict with each other in any way if you installed them in different folders.
Try deleting the settings folder in AH2. And just click on aceshigh directrly by opening its folder. Then just hit ok with the video options and don't change anything.

HiTech,
I tried what you suggested and got the same results. Here's what happens when I launch the program:
1. I get the opening window (windows kind of window).
2. I get the Application Error, instruction at blah, blah, blah.
3. I get a new settings folder. Apparently the program gets far enough to create the folder but dies after that. I never get any AH graphics at all. Just the big blank start window.
Any other thing you want me to try, I'm ready.
Thanks!

That "blah, blah, blah" part might help track down the problem.

I wasn't being glib
Here is the entire text of the message in the off-chance that someone has a load map of the program and can trace this errant instruction down to a specific line of code:
'The instruction at "0x0043b375" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read"'

What version of DirectX is required with then new code? I currently have DirectX 8.0 (the one that came with my Thrustmaster Cougar).
Thanks!

That was it! I installed DirectX 9.0b and everything works fine, now. Whew!
Thanks! :rofl
