The 3 members of the 78th FG that showed Thursday night flew a coop mission with the 325th FG.
I know we like to get in here and rag good naturedly , and sometimes not so good naturedly about each others squadrons.
If you C.O.'s want to see how a squadron should launch, form up, fly to the target, run the mission then RTB , fly a mission with the Checkertails. I was very impressed with how their C.O., and pilots, operated.
I've been doing this for years, and been in squads for years. That mission was one of the coolest experiances I've had in on-line simms. I felt like I was in a real mission.
Thanks 325th , sorry my connection, and voice comms went south at a critical moment. I really enjoyed the experiance, and look forward to it again sometime. IT WAS OUTSTANDING!

Lowe, I had the pleasure of flying with the Checkertails as a replacement in an SO. I agree 100% with you - they are a great squadron to fly with. I had a blast :aok

Okay.... where is the punchline... J/K
Honestly, I am a little taken back... I can't take any of the credit, it is my CO's and my Pilots that do all the work. Thank you for the compliments guys... we are just here to have fun, and possibly have some of the realism of what those brave men went through back then. Lowe, I am sure we will be running more of what we did tonight again. ASW, anytime you want to fly with us in SO your more than welcome to...
Again thanks for the compliments...

Hmm JG3 Udet , named for a scapegoat who hated the 'new' fighters that Uncle Willi put out & then in the end put a gun to his head because Hermann needed someone to blame for the BoB
fiasco .
Love the way those Germans go out :rofl
J/K guys ..

Bolt I see you were watching CNN yesterday as well...
Might want to attribute that quote from Mayor "Buddy" Cianci.

Jagdgeschwader-3 " Udet"
Named for Ernst Udet , highest scoring surviving German Ace of WWI. Ernst Udet , although a high ranking official in the Luftwaffe, was not of the same ilk as a Goring , Hess, or a Hitler.
Missguided , ignortant, to the real evil engulfing his country. YES
A major figure in not only aviation in Germany but world wide, in the years between the two world wars. Maybe taking his own life had as much to do with his realization of what he had become a part of as much as his personal failure to the Luftwaffe's bomber capability.
Like Mölders, and Galland , he was no lackey for Goreing , or the Nazi party. There is some speculation Mölders was killed on purpose ,not an accidient because of his anti Nazi additude. Udet , like Rommel, was probably a dead man regardless. Taking his own life was probably his only option.
This thread was started as an appreciation of one of the CT squads, and I don't want it to melt into a trashing, or insult to any squad.

Saw the mission from the other end I think
I was tooling around in my Ki-61 wondering where could this big red bar be hiding....(jug raid from A18). Guessing that was venture being discussed above...certainly looked well run. Only thing I was curious about was end at A18...couldnt tell if you guys we're reupping or landing. I didnt see enough opposition to stop you guys but think I missed the main party. I got engaged by 7-8 early ( got tickled once and tickled back one) but as I dragged fight down everyone disengaged (very good disipline btw) I'd been hoping to drag everyone down in case we were upping a cap.
Anyway, caught up with main body and had a couple good fights then shadowed em back to A18 where I met the working end of a jug going up as I was a coming down...(clean up Ki parts on aisle 3) all in all was actually a lot of fun. I do hate that plane set though.

Lowe,
I agree with you. I've seen the checkertails practice and it is impressive. I've always been a fan of organization and they do it well. They also fly nice tight formations. Takes time and practice to do it right. I salute their commitment. Well done Stream and the rest of the 325th.

Sorry I missed the mission, we usually just have the one squad night on tuesdays, the rest of the week is Snapshot, CAP, Squad Op ect.
Cya next week anyways.

Lowe....Comming from you, that's a great complement and much appreciated. Ever since you and Jester started the 325th, we've been on a path to try to duplicate as much as possible the formations and tactics used by the real Checkertails in WW2. I don't have to tell you this has not been easy. There's a big difference between sitting in a real fighter and a computer sim and some things that are easy in real life are harder when your only view is a computer monitor. I've said it before....We try to fly as if a real Checkertail was looking over our shoulder.
It was great to hear your voice on the com last night. The phrase "Shifty Flight" was very much noticed and remembered by the old hands and brought a smile to our faces.
Looking forward to more of the same.

That was a mission and a half just flying in it with old friends, (shifty) was so good to hear. My first flight was more then a year ago and Lowe tucked me under his wing, however I followed his bomb drop all the way up to my neck (ha ha) that was before I knew your couldn't fly in a dive 500 mph....that was a fun flight also, one I will never forget...I also choped down a few trees before I finely got into the formation.....Capt. jonymac1
PS...Thanks Lowe.

As others have said, It was great hearing "Shifty Flight" again. I started right before you and several others left to start JG3. Stream is a Great CO and has worked hard with the squad.
A compliment coming from such a Class Act as yourself is truly appreciated. <>
