Title: hit the pocketbook of almost every taxpayer in America.”
Post by: JBA on December 19, 2003, 12:18:42 PM
Thank you,  My new road is great!!!
This was funded in part with federal dollars.
YES THAT’S  12.6 billion over budget. Got to love government projects.

“…and has hit the pocketbook of almost every taxpayer in America.”

After spending $14.6 billion (up from an initial forecast of about $4 billion in today's dollars),

“60 percent of the tab was federal - wound up paying far more than expected. Revelations about hidden cost overruns angered many, as statewide highway tolls climbed. The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority is planning a $150 million lawsuit against firms that managed the project.

I'd like to thank you all for the Ted Williams Tunnel.  It's cut so much time and aggravation off my commute, I don't have time to finish my coffee.

Please hurry and fix the I93 connector, though.  That's a pain.

Supposedly.  There's still lots of construction, though.

while we haven't taken on anything near as daunting as 'the big dig' (cost aside what an awsome bit of engineering), I am pretty happy with our hwy department out here.  our roads are in excellent condition compaired to most of the country, and just about all major projects we've had recently have came in under the bid and early

As a Boston resident for two years all I can say is thank fugu for that!

The only problem now is that it cuts out half of the conversational topics for Bostonians (the other half, Why the Red Sox Can't Win the World Series, is likely stay around for a while).

It's the Bruins this year.  I went to the game last night.  Those morons couldn't even start a decent fight.

On top of that, the idiot owner has the highest ticket prices in the league.

The place was empty.

I have no idea what this post is about,

but given that Martlett was the last person to post here, I thought I had to make a stand for the opposite point of view.

Just to illustrate a point that we don't need government projects to get us out of recessions (Keynesians )  are wrong.
These and all gov. run services are always over budget and go on forever.

Hmmm.  I just noticed I was on probation.

I wonder when that happened.
