The new Events Server is coming along nicely, with the SquadOps section now virtually complete. The final touch is to have a 'splash screen' introductory page for the SquadOps, and for this we are holding a Contest! The person who submits the best splash screen will have their work featured on the site for all to see! :)
The graphic needs to be 800 x 600 or 800 x 800 in size and should be posted in this thread during the next 7 days.....so, let's see what talent is out there! :D
-
can it possible be a screenshot of an SSO or does it have to be like a water painting thing?
-
Whatever you want - let your imagination run wild! :D (within reason! ;) )
-
It can be whatever you want it to look like. In game shots, other images, black and white, colored and filtered images etc. We will take all submitted and choose one for the site.
-
Just one thing to watch.... if any copyrighted material is used, permission must be obtained from the original artist first. Thanks. :)
-
no takers?
-
Well, here's my pathetic attempt - I'm sure some of you can produce something much better! :)

Very nice 68K0. :) It is late, we started voting on them the other day. Also you need to give the original artist credit in any that is used.

Guys I have found him and here is a copy of the email I have sent him. He lives in Penn. right across the river from me in new jersey.
Here is a copy of the email,
Hello Mr Cohen,
My name Bill Bundesmann and I live in New Jersey I fly in a WWII combat game on the Internet Called Aces High made by Hitech Creations. The Company is expanding and they are running an art work contest for there opening screen for Squad Operations. It is for squad based events . I have came across the GREAT art work of yours. It is a bunch of guys planning an attack in a briefing room that I would like to use. The game has over 700 pepole that play on line . What would happen is when they run Squad ops witch is when squads in the game get together one time a week to run Secenerios your art work would be the opening page. I have to ask for your permission to use it.The game can be found here if you would like to check it out http://www.hitechcreations.com
inclosed I have put a basic think I would like to use but the art work does not have your name on witch I would like you to add in the picture so that the guys will know whos great art work it is.
Thank you very much for your time in reading this e-mail and please you do have fans young and old out there keep up the great work
Best Reguards,
Bill Bundesmann
I also sent him a copy of the picture that I did for him to put his name on it if he approves.

Ahh yes Dux, Mr. Dietz is another one of my favorites! I saw one of his originals at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola and it had just awesome detailing. It was called the "Angel of ...{something}" and depicted a 1920/30's incident in Central/South America where a biplane aviator flew in supplies and evacuated wounded for an otherwise besieged garrison. Haven't seen prints of that one yet though. Anyhow, both he and Mr. Cohen really bring out the human side of these events very well imho.

Actually here's a really rough image of that painting:

Yeah I know Arlo... We all make mistakes... moving on... but thanks for pointing that out...

GUys here is what I got back this mourning So I am with drawling my subbmittal.
Hello Bill,
If you had ever seen the actual limited edition print of the image to which you are referring, which shows much greater detail than a computer download, you might have noticed the worn faces of the bomber crew and the wound on the hand of the gunner. This indicates that what you are witnessing is an Eighth Air Force debriefing scene. In fact, the title of the painting is, "After the Mission". The crew is being interrogated by an intelligence officer after a harrowing mission.
As far as its use by Hitech creations is concerned, the artwork is copyright material. There would be a licensing fee for its use by Hitech. The company should contact me directly if they are interest in the use of my art. Also, the art should be shown as is, without anything added, subtracted or altered on the image in any way.
Thank you very much for your kind words about my paintings. Your encouragement is greatly appreciated.
Gil Cohen
