Title: video card advise [again]!!

HI once again my pc knowledge shines through:( ,i think that says it all.Can anyone tell me if there is a way of finding out what video card i have without actully phyisically taking it out. I am on windows xp pro..thanks FireItUp!!..    :aok

Fireitup,

Go to your Start button and click it...then where you see the run line...click Run....then type in the window    dxdiag

This will run your direct x diagnostics....you can then go through the tabs and they will tell you PLENTY about your system and the name of your card, drivers, mem etc...

Hi again tried dxdiag and it said that i had an sis 650 651 m560 740 whatever that means,but i thought that i had an nvidia card but what do i know!! just one other thing i'm on direct x 8, should i be on direct x 9b..thanks agian for your patients with a dumb ==== like me!..:aok

Another way you can check is to do this!!!!!


Go to your desktop and right click....

You should then click on the settings tab....

Then look at the adapter portion....this can tell you what card you have as well....

maybe that helped?

Maybe what gutboy said but, goto   start\settings\control panel\system\  hardware tab \device manager button\display adaptor.

For Win98:

 Right click My Computer / properties / device manager / display adapters.
