The members of the 325th Fighter Group (Virtual) recognize the trials and tribulations inherent in being a Fighter Pilot during World War Two. We understand the difficulties and sacrifice of that period in history, and do not want the heroism of those fine men to be forgotten. Therefore, we strive to pay homage to those fine Gentlemen through, what we feel is the sincerest form of flattery, re-enactment of their actions in a virtual environment.
In order to do this, the 325th Fighter Group (Virtual) attempts to re-create the era as best we can, using the tools that are available to us today. As in real-life, we place a heavy emphasis on training in both combat and non-combat flying, as well as the tactics and strategies of the day to enable us to be the best flyers possible. Furthermore, we will research the history of the unit, and it's personnel, and make efforts to become the online equivalent of a "Re-enactment" group, actually designing missions that reproduce missions flown by the 325th Fighter Group in “persona play” while online to the greatest extent possible - taking the roles, and, if possible, the speech patterns and mannerisms of pilots we have researched, interviewed, met in person, etc.
Above all, we recognize that many pilots of the 325th Fighter Group have gone on to become legendary figures in aviation. Twenty-seven of their pilots achieved Ace status (five or more aerial victories). They flew over 550 missions, achieved over 500 aerial victories and received Distinguished Unit Citations for two of them. The Group also achieved notoriety as the first USAAF fighter unit to fly into Russia, on the first "shuttle mission" of the war, in 1944.Whenever possible, the 325th Fighter Group (Virtual) limits itself in official Group activities to the planes that the real 325th Fighter Group flew during World War II - the P40B & E, P47D or the P-51B & D.
