Title: Wasn't Carney one of the most accurate FG kickers at one time?
Post by: Ripsnort on December 22, 2003, 08:07:12 AM
Wow, misses a PAT and eliminates his team from the play-offs. Wonder if he got a seat next to Angry Bubba on the trip home, the seats near the bathroom....

On a side note, even though the Seahawks are no longer in the AFC West, we are *still* dependant on the Raiders and Denver in order to make the play-offs. :(   Not that it matters, the Hawks would get beat the first round if they make it. (Too many defensive injuries and lack of secondary experience)

ESPN said he hasn't missed a PAT in 4 years.  Over 100 straight then *whiff*.  I feel sorry for him.

Isn't it sad that our heroes are mere mortals.

He looked at the place holder with a fire in his eye that suggests the spot might have been bad.  The anouncers said Carney had complained about the holder's "ball placement" in the past and was told to live with it.  I wonder if the coach would say the same thing today.

He's one of the best kickers in league history to answer your question.

Joe Horn was slammed by virtually everyone for the cell phone stunt.  It was pretty much the same when Terrell Owens pulled the sharpie out of his sock to sign a football after a touchdown.  It's odd that these are remembered as if they're the norm.

I don't place athletes on pedestals... and I try not to vilify them.  Though, through rivalries that get's a bit tough.  I guess I find it more acceptable to hate a player because he plays for the Yankees than to hate him because you feel he's a bad role model for children.

the play previous had a forward pass in it so the touchdown/PAT should never have existed anyway..

Being a Saints fan all my life...the missed extra-point was expected after that play.
