Me too! (Copied from another thread)

Finally made my decision and bought this today, for $440 with shipping and tax. (MSRP $655)  The sweet part is I'll purchase a conversion kit for firing .22 rounds for the gun range, and the kids will be able to enjoy it once they get old enough.

Great card Maniac...I have one too.  :)

Great gun Rip, I don't have one of those.

What is the deal with night sights?  Don't see the sight on the gun, were they separately packaged?

Maniac, I'm curious why you would go for the 256MB 9600 Pro, when I would bet that the performance of the 128 MB 9800 Pro is superior.

I originally bought the 128 MB 9600 Pro and was disappointed in it's performance. I went back and got the 9800 Pro. There's no comparison, in my experience. The 9800 Pro blows the doors off the 9600 Pro, at least in my experience.

I got an un-expected Christmas bonus so I decided to get myself a Radeon 9800 XT 256MB. Hell, I figured I need to be pampered also.

Nice pistol Rip. My wife has a Beretta 92FS that is a joy to shoot.

It has manual everything just about, and auto everything.
I like the idea of a camara that you can tweak once you learn how too.
But if you dont think I should get it I guess I wont.

the manual f-stops and focus are great for giving you high quality pics.  but if you have kids you will want the option for auto everything, the best shots happen so fast you don't have time to set it up.

btw- nice piece Rip

Nice camera Pongo! That's an excellent choice, spoil yourself!
I really want to upgrade my digital camera, I have a Canon Powershot.  I still have my Pentax 35mm if I want really good shots...

My wife and I bought a new Pentax 35mm this year the week before our 2nd boy was born. She spent the two days before going into labor searching for and researching cameras. Nice Pentax ZX-7 I might add. It has given her a new hobby and she loves taking pictures of everything.

When she got it the camera was $400 with a 2nd Tamron 70-300 zoom lense and it came with a 30-90 zoom.

I was watching football on Saterday and my girlfriend threw a present at me in a nice spiral..(wasnt really that nice).   She told me to go ahead and open it and it was an official  NFL game ball.  So now I have a football to bash when I cheer instead of the coffee table..
Might end up being my best present this year..

Not bad Munkii.  I just picked up a Dell Inspiron 8600 for $1500 after rebate.
Intel 1.5ghz Pentium "M" (equivalent to about a 2.4ghz with half the voltage.  Less heat/battery consumption)
512 DDR
GeForce FX 5200 (would have rather had the 9600 "laptop version")
WinXP pro
Software (much I could care less for, but Mcafee for a year)
Integrated wireless and physical ethernet port
56k modem
15.4" screen (wide aspect ratio)
DVD-CD burner
and other stuff
I love it so far.  Going to get a Netflix account and start ripping/making my own DVD library :D

You mention it has night sights but then say it is glow in the dark paint. Aren't the night sights tritium inserts (truly night sights, glow in the dark paint is practically useless for night sights)?

Wait for some independent reviews of the F828 before buying it. Pay particular attention to the results using ISO 400 and above. As long as the 7x optical zoom is okay for your needs and it actually lives up to its potential, it should be an awesome camera!
Unfortunetly, Sony seems to be having problems with the camera's algorhythm...delay after delay. Many, many positives for that camera as long as they can get it work like they say it will.

Just picked up a Canon G5 with the tele, wide and macro lens for $900 CDN good deal considering the package is $1600 plus tax.. Better practical camera than my Nikon 5000.

Pongo have fun carting that monster of a camera around, tried the Nikon 5700 just too big to tote around everywhere.

Although i'll still keep the 5000 nothing beats Nikon for macros and manual settings, but christ what a pita when you have big hands to navigate those dinky buttons. ;)

I never found the Nikon 5700 too big to carry around even all day long..  I do fear the 828 will be too big and too heavy though - I never liked the sony swinging lens crap but this camera is rather tempting.

Saburo, yea I have been watching the delays too and was concerned whith how they prohibited sample photos from the pre-production cameras - you gotta wonder were they that fugged up. Will definitely wait on reviews.

I have nite sites on my Kimber.   they are tritium and glow in the dark... the darker it is the more they glow.   they are very easy to use.   I shot it in the dark at some dark targets and it was very easy to hit them..  even the muzzle flash didn't make follow up shots hard except the target was harder to see from the loss of nite vision.

it is a comforting green 3 dot glow on my nitestand.

9 rounds of .45 hydro shocks and nite sights are every bit as important as a good book on the nitestand.

cameras?  got a cannon elf and never can recall how to use the "features" but I just point and click... works ok.   fits in my pocket.   mostly.. I'm the only person with a camera.

LOL, WUSSY!!!   (just kidding)

You'd die at my equipment list that I am lugging around.
Present(recently):
Canon 10D w/70-200mm f/2.8L (non IS) ~4-6 lbs
550EX Speedlite ~ 1lb
Bogen/Manfrotto 475B tripod w/3039 3-way head ~ 12lbs

will add:
17-40mm f/4.0L, 300mm f/4.0L (non IS), carry-on bag/backpack converted for my equipment, digital storage unit, battery grip, extra batteries, monopod ~25-30 lbs additional.
I'll eventually add a second camera for back up and to minimize lens swapping (which leads to eventual dust contamination).

Amazing what one's willing to carry/lug around to get the shots.

Although the F828 is heavy and big by P & S standards, It's really a lightweight ;)

Just keep reminding yourself.....Zeiss....T-multicoating....f/2.0-2.8, 28-200mm (35mm equivilent)...8 MP....built like a tank....can go on and on :)

As with any camera, it usually boils down to the lens.

If you aren't particular about pixel counts, look for the Panasonic DMC-FZ10. 4 MP 12x optical IS Zoom!!! (Leica glass BTW) :)
Wait for the reviews though. Lighter and smaller than the F828.

Just to clarify. The tritium night sights actually are always on at a constant output. Just one notices the brightness relative to the surrounding darkness. I wouldn't have a handgun (for self-defense) without them. Be prepared to change them in about 5-10 years. They are mildly radioactive and will 'runout' in about that time.
