As per a post from agn3d 7a fixes usb related problems in directplay.

Being that I have a usb joystick which bounces and generally sucks I thought I'd upgrade.

Result: 33 fps 7a vs. 27 fps 7
Bouncy: 50% less bounce in 7a vs 7

Conclusion: MS screwed 7 when it came to doing usb .. You MUST get this upgrade if you have a usb joystick.

Hey HaHa, I downloaded DX-7a and got a great improvement in the dreaded bounce!. Thanks for the post, as it helped me and probably a lot of others as well! Aces High is much more enjoyable now, but I would still love to see a much better flight model.

Hey got MSPPFF here.  Got errors all the time in 7.0 on the joystick in DXDiag.  Gone now joystick behaves much better same with USB mouse.

Bounce for me is the same ol' horizontal bungee as always.
