since so many hate nitetime.... but.. a few like it and....
since you can pretty much bypass nitetime by some kinda "gamma correction" thingie if you are so equiped and...
since not everyone can or even knows how to do this....
let's make it more fair and just eliminate the nitetime feature for allmost everyone... just leave it out of the game but for those who really miss it, all they have to do is...
turn off their monitor.
what could be more fair?

The monitor button works pretty well, but the "Quit" button works well too..

That sounds like an excellent idea! ;)

Another spun post. Many people like night and a few hate it. Get your facts straight.
I love intercepting buffs at 30k in the night. I will drop everything else to engage in this activity. The bigger the buff formation the better! I even like them escorted! Bring it on!

30k? People go that high?

But, how are you able to see anything?
Are you using a gamma cheat to be able to see? If so...is that realistic?
What type of fighter are you flying to do all this intercepting in? I'll bet that whatever plane type and model it is, it never flew in a nightfighter role in the war.
No spin..honest questions.

Icon is seen from 6k out, plane is seen when you get close.

No, then it wouldn't be night.

I'll bet you're right. I'll also bet that I don't really care. Did you want to use selective realism on this particular feature?

Yes, it's great fun and one of the best representations of WWII that the game has to offer.

wow MetaTron, that was a neat trick hacking into SOB's account and posting that response.
Allow me to retort:
On my screen when it is night I can't see jack! Sure I can see a bright red icon...but nothing of the actual plane I want to shoot at.
I have not touched my gamma settings either, so why is it that you can see so well and I can't? I read another thread where a video card change in a guy's computer, with the exact same gamma settings on both, resulted in a better (or worse, I can't remember) view during darkness.
I call that imbalance.
Regardless..you don't correct your gamma at night just like me...I just don't fly when it is dark. Others, however do and freely admit to correcting their settings as much as possible so that it appears close to daylight on their monitors.
I call THAT imbalance.
Selective realism is a valid point...except for the little imbalance problem as discussed above...but this isn't whether F4Cs should or shouldn't be "perked" due to the actual combat numbers of them during the war kind of realism issue. This is cut and dry...the makes and models of aircraft that never flew at night should not be allowed to fly at night in AH in my opinion.
I log when it is night, so it isn't a huge big deal for me.
I just log.
Night sucks.

I have the default settings for my video card loaded. I made adjustments to make Word and AutoCAD easier on my eyes, but it was too dark to fly AH, so I reloaded the defaults. I don't have to adjust gamma or any monitor settings. I fly toward an icon and then worry about centering the pipper once I'm in range. Sure, you use more ammo in the dark, and I have been embarrassed by some of the shots I've taken. When the sky is totally dark it's almost impossible for me, but likewise for the other guy. It all evens out.

metavoss.... just like you.. I don't know if more or less people like nite. Unlike you.... i don't claim any special knowledge on that account..
I do note however that in any nite thread.... MOST people who participate appear to dislike the nite.
I also note that how well you see is dependant on your computer. much more so than any other feature of the game... it can be cheated and worked around by most but not all...
since that is the case... perhaps they should do away with the nite feature and if you really enjoy nite... you could just turn off your monitor... I doubt you will tho since you seem to be all about working the loopholes and oppssing any closure of said loopholes.

If there's one thing I know, about AH, it's that you don't like 90% of AH. So, it is you that sees a disliking in most aspects (thus the constant whining on the BBS). Whereas I post images indicating that there are people flying at night, and perhaps even trying to make use of it to aid in their mission, you just whine.
Now, if you had just an inkling of how to cure problems like numbers imbalance, suicide en masse, or infreguent fights (without whining about it), I'd like to read that. Rather than that, though, I'm sure your next post about how AH sucks and you have the perfect cure will follow in just a few days.

Some people naturally set their gama to dark to begin with as it helps make the colors on the screen look better, I set mine on bootup to where the black is black not gray to me thats the truest to real my monitor can put out.
I change enemy icons to white normally as being color blind I can't see red very well, and they show up really well at night on DAR as well as in the sky.
Night doesnt bother me its sunrise and sunset twilight that kills me beyond any doubt I can't see anything in that time period, white black purple with green polkadots nothing so get rid of twilight. :aok <~~~~ gratuitous dweeb sig

Well, I don't know if you're blind or if your monitor just sucks monkey nuts, but that's not my problem. Hell, I'm flying on a PIII 1GHz with a GeForce 3 right now. Some are flying with P4 supermachines with Radeon 9800 cards, and others are flying on 'puters that are slower than mine. I call THAT imbalance. Well, not really, 'cause I don't care about that either, but it fits in nicely with your line of thinking.
With the two video cards that I've had, this and my V5-5500, I've been able to see planes at night when I get up close. It sure as hell isn't easy to see them, but I can manage to follow them when I'm close. The only setting I've ever changed on my monitor (apart from geometry and placement) is brightness and contrast, which have both been lowered from the factory setting.
Some choose to up their "gamma" (whatever that is) and others might be able to see better than me too, but I really don't care. I enjoy the change of pace that flying at night brings, it's different and it's fun - to me. If it went away I wouldn't cry about it, but I hope it stays. I like it. Night Rules!...at least for the short time that it appears in the MA.
-edit- Oh, and please accept my humblest apologies for responding to your question to Metatard. I thought it was open to anyone who liked nights, but I was obviously horribly mistaken.

we need 2 more by friday and my whine prediction has come true.

Damn!!! I was willing to bet that Lazs was gonna say that moving the fields closer together would fix night!!! :D

Thats a good one NoBaddy:) Going to have to send lazs more cash so he'll still be friendly to the 13th--but money well spent:)

Why don't we just get rid of airfields altogether and have air spawns? That would fix everything, right?
-
Alt-F4 and the power button always cured it for me.
-
The cure for night time Is daytime LOL.
But that being said.
If you just gotta have night time.
then atleast let us post missions at night.

I'm not blind, but trying to fly at night makes me wonder sometimes. I don't "really" try it that often anyway.
You like night, I think night sucks. I'll just leave it to you then, I don't fly when it is dark.
Not my problem...I just presented my opinion and a few questions.
Enjoy it.
...and I forgive you for responding to Metatron's questions...really.

moving the fields closer together is allways the cure... unless you can't see.

and metavoss... you say you don't take advantage of the gamma correction che.. er, loophole but.... metavoss not using a cheezy loophole in gameplay? If there is one thing I know about metavoss the spawncamping loophole guy is.... he uses every che.. er... loophole available.

Maybe moving the feilds closer together wont fix this one...
But I suppose its worth a try ;)
Maybe if you moved the Daytime Closer together would be the fix???
