A friend shared with me some useful tricks to do with the frontal view, especially useful for 190 pilots.

Most of us have 7,9,4,6,1,2 and 3 in keypad configured as normal "level" view, and these keys with 5 as looking up views. Well, you can configure much more frontal views using "extrange" key combinations. An example:

Press 7 and 1 at the same time, you'll have normal frontal view. Now, with these key pressed, change the POV with cursors and pgup/down and press F10 to save the pos. Now you have the normal frontal view and another frontal view with a different POV while pressing 7 and 1. You can repeat the operation with more unused key combinations (8 + 2, 9 + 3, etc) having, as result, a bunch of different frontal views.

In the 190 I have 7 + 1 view configured to look at the instrument pannel from a lower possition, this way I'm able to check engine overheat with a single key press.

The only problem is that you'll be able to configure only different frontal views, the trick doesnt work with rear views.

Then again, you could just remap the semi-colin (;) key to look forward-down so you can see all the insturments. That's what I did since I fly with one hand on the trim keys.

You don't need to map it to a combo view.  Actually, the "default" forward view and "forward" view are two different views.  I map another button on my stick to the second "forward" view, which is set back and down to see my instrument panel.

Yep, I have the default forward view, the over the nose forward (KP8) view, the look at instrument panel forward view (KP7 + KP1), and then forward with head at top left and up, and forward with head at top right and up (very usefull when taxing and landing).

The way I do it, I have forward, rear, left, and right views mapped to two hats, one on my throttle and the other on my joystick. 2 buttons on throttle for up and down.

Mapped down-forward to look at instrument panel. That's "down" button on the throttle and hat forward on joystick or the throttle.
