Real Life:

Aces High:
1-Turn rate

5-Durability
6-Range
7-Visibility from cockpit
8-Reliability (doesn't even apply)


Aces High is a great sim.  I'm not griping.  Just found this to be an interesting comparison.

It's a fundamental difference in priorities.

In the real world, the number one priority is getting home alive.  Not getting any kills isn't a major loss.

In AH, the number one priority is the quick kill.  Being killed is no big deal.

For selection process in a plane in AH

Topspeed and acceleration are interchangeable

I think range and high altitude performance were very important in the real world.  In the MA they matter very little at all.

A lot of the list depends on your preferred flying style.  Turn rate matters very little to some people and very much to others.  Also things not listed like weapon ballistics matter a lot to certain players.

Ive noticed a major downside to making buffs largely useless in AH is THAT was the reason a lot of high-alt fights happened....majority of buff now fly in mebbe 10k, to make sure they hit SOMEthing, and since that started, nearly ALL fighting is 15k and under---Id LOVE to have SOMEthing change here to make hi-alt fights (and thus  hi-alt attributes of your plane more important) more numerous. Nothing like a 25k P47 dueling a 190 or 109
