Took these over the last few days...thought they were worthy of sharing.
Yea, we drive slow and take forever to get where asked to go. We also get mauled and rapped going to the places folks ask us to go :) Many times, those who ask us to be there are no where around to provide support. If you think its maddening to be swatted down a few times in a row, imagine flying for 45 minutes and getting clobbered!
Anyway, love thy slow-driving friends...here's a few cool pics to share...

Our little Arado Strike force prior to take off for Rook HQ. Sadly, Tee ate a hillside shortly after roll...death via keyboard.

Well, you know when I get bored, someone's HQ gets bombed. Problem was there were 3 G10s who know my schedule :) But, we gave them parachuting lessons on this day!

man, it looks unstable. how many of those things crash each day ?
-
Actually they are very stable, but they are fast and of course, the aircraft is small and requires some degree of compentency in high speed/high performance to fly. Sadly, many of the accidents have been folks with NO time and LITTLE time in high performance aircraft. Add to that the fact this is a pusher and pushers have their own tendencies versus pullers...or, props up front.
And finally, these things are built by individuals and each BD-5 is seperate from the other in the regards of how good the builder is.
Recently a BD-5T (turboprop, like mine will be) crashed while trying to make an emergency landing. The aircraft began oscillating and difficult to control. The aircraft had flown several times before without incident and the pilot was a very compentent one, with many hours/ratings/etc under his belt. He lost control and augered in, and died. We are still anxious to see what the NTSB finds caused the problem and accident.
As I've told friends before, I know I have a lot of flight training to do before I am ready to fly my BD-5, when its done. We're reviewing plans to install a BRS (Ballistic Recovery System) behind the pilot seat, near the center of gravity. Problem is, the chute will only deploy at speeds less that 165kts (the BD-5T cruises at 240) and the chute's got to clear the prop behind it. Also, wearing a chute is one thing, unsquezzing one self from the cockpit is another...though I think I can do amazing things if it was life or death :)
BTW...2 BD-5's are for sale on eBay :D
