you know the ones... the buffs that kamikazi in and drop the CV with one laser guided pass.
-
could HTC perhaps up the damage level of the CV the same way they did for hangars and cause the cv to regenerate like the other ships instead of respawning.
once all ships destroyed the fleets respawns perhaps?
or is instantly ending a well developed furball because of one buff more fun for all?
come to think of it, isnt this the reason more hangars are being added in 1.07?

Cit,
Isn't dropping the dar for an entire country pretty much the same thing??

I do find it very easy to kill an UNGUARDED CV in a Lanc with no problem. Just fly over it at about 2-3k and drop your load on the bow, it will hit the fantail no matter how its turned. Sure you usually die...but its worth getting rid of a problem CV.
This doesnt work for crap with CVs that are being actively used however. A Lanc is dead meat at 3k to any reasonably compitent fighter pilot. It also doesnt work if your very high up as the travel time for your eggs makes them too easy to avoid.
So if ya throw your CV at a base, try and protect it.

I still belive that an adjusted scoring system will drastically reduce the number of pilots willing to fly such suicide missions.
No score unless you land, and modified score if you ditch/bail in friendly territory.
A multiplier applied to your score everytime you land a mission with a kill, such that as you rack up a string your kills are worth more and more. When you die, your multiplier goes back to 1.
There will always be a handfull of suicide pilots, but no where near what we see now after such scoring changes.
Reward pilots for landing kills. No score for kills you can't land.

You think the channel 1 whines are bad now Bob? They are nothing compared to what would happen if any death resulted in the complete loss of that sortie points-wise.

Fatty has it right...
(man.. I'm agreeing with a FDB???!!!!)

Oh geez....what an incentive to HO somebody. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Make them lose all their built up sortie points.....MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

3K?
Can't miss the CV from 10,000 feet with a B26, B17, Lanc, even if it's turning, as long as you understand where to aim. It's quite easy.
And it's not a kamikaze run; you're above the ack at that altitude and the flak doesn't always get you.
-
easy answer: Lower the AAA range to 2k or 3k above the carrier and fix the loving psychic flak. Then people would be able to dive bomb and pull up . Right now, I dont even consider surviving when I dive bomb a carrier. I know that if I'm at 15k and dive bomb, the wind layer will throw me off before I nail my vector on the carrier, and if I dive below the wind layer, ill be hit by the tracer AA ...that is, if the flak doesnt whack me on the high speed dive.
CV toughness should be increased as well. Carriers would usually take 10 or 11 bombs and some even survived that.
-
easy answer: make the 5 inch guns work like they should. IRL they would be murderous on a lancaster flying nice and straight lining up for a carrier shot (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
btw on the hother hand theyd be impotent against a dogfighting fighter ... the teleporting acks as they are now just suck

Yes, but isn't that the point in shooting chutes??? You'd get 10.0 material whines if the chute was trying to bail with 5+ kills!
And Fatty, where the heck were ya spawning from last night when you guys were attacking 13??? I dropped an egg on you when you were in a GV, then like 3 minutes later I got an assist on you, and then 5 minutes later you bounced me in a Spit! It was hectic! We knock down a few planes and think "well, we can at least breathe for a second" Nope! here they come over the hill AGAIN! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
<S!> to you guys for your damned persistence! I woulda saluted ya last night, but had cursed to Mata over the squad channel and got myself squelched. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/redface.gif)

I agree that the CV ack or any other acks should work like IRL.
ANYONE and EVERYONE who flies thru ack should take damage if hit by it.....I'm tired of CV used as altitude suppression platforms next to coastal airfields. And tired of chums running to hide in thier ack over fields, I say share the wealth, let EVERYBODY take thier chances with ack.

There is a simple solution. Make the 88's more accurate. Thanks for the suggestion Cit<S>

I usually squelch channel 1 and don't pay attention to whiners. On the other hand I might just unsquelch channel 1 to hear all those whines if they introduced such a fine scoring system.

CV's are just bloody annoying. More power to the kamikaze pilots (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).
And it "was a valid historical approach".

The damage a CV could take varied wildly. The key is whether you could start a fire. One bomb starting the right fire could take down a whole ship.
The CV we have in Aces High is an Essex-class CV..none were ever sunk, but Franklin came close...and that was from only two bombs, that started a fire that killed over 700 of the crew and almost caused the ship to be abandoned.
A big problem is the distinction between sunk and just not able to fly aircraft. One bomb on the flight deck can shut down takeoffs and landings...but not be enough to sink a CV.
