I am fed up out here in rural Scotland stuck with ISDN. Broadband will not get here in the forseeable future and I am enquiring about Satellite. I am aware that it is not good for gaming because of upload lag, but I have read that it is posssible to maintain an ISDN link for uploading and the Satellite for downloading during gaming.
What is the truth and would anyone reccomend a Satellite connection for Aces High?
Thanks

Bandwidth ie satellite systems are not required for gaming.
Most of the sat systems i am aware of use a normal modem for uploading and just use the sat for downloads.
Ping is excessive ie time to bounce the signal to satellite and back.
ISDN connection would be far better for gaming.
Skuzzy insists all you need for AH online play is a 28.8k modem i believe.
ISDN will improve over this with better pings but satellite will be a huge step backwards for gaming.

Yes, thats what I'd heard. Thanks;)

There are some satellites setups that allow for both the up and download to come directly from the satellite. I believe the max upload was 65k though. Either way I'd suggest against it as I've had a sat connection and it was awesome for downloading stuff but crappy for gaming. Just my opinion though.
