Title: Trinity
Post by: mars01 on January 05, 2004, 01:03:30 PM
Where have all the Furballs gone?

Since friday all I have seen are high alt P51s, LA5s, LA7s, P38s.  Most dive in and run.  Some never even dive in they just stay high and then RTB.

I find the bases on Trinity to be to far apart.  Very little in the way of low alt or under 10k engagements.  I guess this is a strat only map.  Thank god for Tank Town.

For the past two days there has been a big batle for A1.  JU88, LANCS, B17s, P38s, SPITS, TYPH, F4U, 51s, LA7s, LA5, Pxx, YAKS, NIKs, C205s and all kinds of GVs.  The best fights I had for a while now.  I guess you just have to be lucky and find them.  They are there.  Also there were a few good batles by the water (cant remember the field #s)

The 51s and 38s may be going to bomb something and since they are heavy, they don't come down to fight.  The LAs I cannot explain.  Maybe they did not see you?  How do you know they rtbed?  Also, what would you expect a 51 and a LA to do? Turn fight you when they have an alt advandage?  That would not be very smart of them, would it?

What day time was this battle for A1?

The 51s et-al either suicide or drop and run - they dont even try to make a pass.  I wouldn't mind if they used their high alt adv to BnZ.  They aren't even doing that.

It seems there are a whole lot more strat and run guys then there are those that want to fight.

"You have to be lucky to find the fight"
Exactly, that sucks.  It should be easy to find a decent battle.  Too many times have I flown the whole sector, to where the battle seemed to be, and the fight is over.

 Not if you suck 8)

Yeah I agree,

Based on his last rendition it is pretty even between strat( bases far apart) and furballing ( bases close together ).  Although I liked his first version better.

I think all the maps would be improved by better spacing.  Some close some as they are.  It only adds to the AtoA combat and doesn't hurt strat.

Fist of all, I do suck.  I could not fly the 51s to save my life.  But if I have the alt, whitch is not often, I will not turn fight simply because if I end up winning the fight, I will most likelly get killed by the next guy that dives in.  BnZng  buys me a few more minutes of action,  And as you said, in these maps you may have to fly for a while before you get lucky to find the action

The time was after 9:30 Chicago time, and now that I think about it, I did fly for a while until I found the action.  That happens to me on every map though.  Look for the big dar bars I guess.

Yeah these guys weren't even BnZing.

The only maps where I could consistently find good fights are Fester, and believe it or not Big Isles when a CV is parked off shore, but once the CVs are gone Big Isle becomes just as bad as the rest.  Fester solved this problem with better field spacing.

I like both of those maps.  Love killing the CV killers.  The same guy will keep upping lancs, hopping that this time I will not see him.  Thats how I land most of my kills.  Feeding on CV killers (until I meet 999 or tatertot).  Then I have to buy a new plane, lol

the distances for some wouldn't be so bad if the fuel modifier was tweaked somewhat on these types of maps. especially when all teh fuel is porked to 25%.

I have to admit, last night had some great fights but most were due to CVs being parked off the coast  of the enemy fields much like big isles.

If the bases were moved to 1/2 or 2/3rds of a sector apart rather than a full sector apart we would see more furballs.  Otherwise if you don't have a CV parked off shore Trinity does not offfer much in the way of furballs.
