Don't ask me why or how, but immersion and the feeling of heading into enemy territory was there for sure....furballers....head to the center atoll....nuetral fields to fight over and always the feeling of enemy otw from Aland and Cland....these were the days.
These maps had it all and were simple....imagine that.
The old beta is the only map we've had which gave that same feeling....Once over that mountain ridge into enemy territory, the fight was intense and the egress back home equally challenging.
Now all we do is argue.

Cod, that makes me want to re-install my old DOS AW game, but I'm not sure it'll even work on my new-fangled machine.
Man, oh man...the nostalgia is thick right now just from looking at those maps again.

I miss the beta map...but as someone pointed out recently, its way too small for the following the game has now.
Although it would be fun to see in the combat arena or something...just for the sake of fun

Then the only thing people would have left to do is dog fight, and we all know this game is no longer about dog fighting.:D

HERE HERE, Fester's map served up the goods on this one! Unfortunately they won't fix the other maps.
