I'm looking into setting up a second computer on my broadband, and I'm open to any good wireless routing suggestions on what to purchase and the best way to set it up.

anything made by netgear

Also anything made by Linksys.
-
Stay away from anything made by D-link.

1 check for new firmware before install.
2 hardwire main gaming rig
3 CHANGE PASSWORD AND SSID
4 USE ENCRYPTION
5 TURN OFF SSID BROADCAST
6 USE MAC FILTERING

Stringer, this is what I use. It's very easy to setup, and works flawlessly.

I have this router sitting by my main PC in my office at home, and connect my PC to it with a CAT5 cable.
I then use this handy little USB wi-fi adapter in my son's computer in the next room.

I've had good experience with products by Sohoware, and good prices too. I don't game on the wireless machines, so I don't know for sure if there are any lag issues. Their boradband routers work great.

what ports should you open for AH?
-
I believe its ports 2000-4000 that need to be open for AH Eagler. It used to be 2000-3000 before AHvoice but I think that AHvoice uses those ports above 3000. Someone who knows better will hopefully respond as I don't use a router and am just recalling from previous information on this board.

I've had good service with a Linksys connecting two computers.
-
my linksys experience was horrible.
Net gear. 10 mins and no trouble ever since.

I purchased a Linksys wireless, been kinda nice sitting by the pool in the afternoon surfing the web and doing work... Even let the neighbor kid take it next door to research school work with my laptop..She said it worked like a charm. from about 1 house away "75lf"
I called Verizon and ordered the router and 2 pc-wireless adaptors because they are my provider and if I have any connectivety issues they have to support it. IT cost me a few extra beans but they stuck it on my verizon invoice and chopped it in 3rds for payment...
