Title: Do you remember when....?
Post by: Replicant on January 07, 2004, 06:33:21 AM
Do you remember when there was:

1.  No runways  (just dirt runway which could be bombed)
2.  No hangars
3.  Only 2 ack on the airfield, but UBER ack!
4.  Field ack having tracer
5.  GVs/aircraft giving bar dar on spawn
6.  No re-arm pads
7.  Old Flight Model
8.  Troops could be dropped at any altitude, any speed
9.  Maproom on the airfield
10.  Having to use Roger Wilco if you wanted vox!
11.  Beta terrain
12.  Ditching at high speed

How things have improved!!!

Trying to land the Typhoon with the old FM was a nightmare!  You'd have to get it slow enough to put the gear down but then the stall horn would be buzzing like crazy and then you'd flip over stalled!  I think the best way to land was to ditch at higher speed!

I miss the days when AH was fresh. It's been three and a half years since the day I took a P-38 for a spin and announced on Channel 1 which VH I was taking out. Newbie not knowing how to use radio commands. :) 90 people online in my prime time, maproom on field, no fleets etc etc.

Oh and Roger Wilco sucked. My PC would lose sound on alt-tabbing. AHVoice was breathtaking when released.

Started my free two weeks when the old beta map was out.  My callsign was a bunch of numbers, and my first flight was in a 38 and I'll never forget how bad I got lit up. :D

7. Old Flight Model

Was real fun... Chess of the air... When the post 1.03 flight model hit the fan it was like stepping into a F1 car...

In the beginning i didnt know that we had the trim on angle, speed and level in AH, so i flew a whole month with the pre 1.03 flight model without the auto trim settings :)

Or put VOX on a channel like a squad channel so you can tune it in or out as you want.

Specially when they got those little 14 year old squeaky voices that hurt your ears.

I was in the DA the other day and had to take off my headphones coz my eardrums couldn't stand it.

Listen to my kids around the house often enough - don't need to hear em coming out of my computer   ;)
