I notice the change in flames - exciting to see the staff are listening. :) Not to mention, that the AH2B online arena is using very good color schemes now.
The best of yet, is that frame rates are increased greatly. With a 1.7Ghz CPU and a GeForce MX(sucks!) card, I get 45~50 FR average by using the SHIFT+F2 option, and customized detail levels.
...
Now.. if we can only get the Beta3 bright white tracers.. :D.. it'd be perfect!
-
yeah, im really curious why the beta3 tracers aren't an obvious improvement.

any more planes added?

Not the P38. :(
(Not anything else, either, as far as I noticed.)
-
new flames? shot down a drone in offline and nothing happened.
I did notice the tracers on ai manned ack has increased. looks impressive now when ack opens up fire...a carpet of fire. that will be an awesome sight to see when flying a formation of b17s in TOD.
-
I didn't notice new fire effects either. Looks like the same as AH1.
-
The color of the texture's a bit different :) Also, the animation effects have changed a little bit.
-
Hmmmm maybe they should perk the tracers :lol

Anyone interested in setting up an impromptu scenario Saturday night? I'm thinking a ground battle, with no planes except unarmed C-47'd for reccee. Pick two v-bases not to far apart and "release the hounds!" Tank-heavy formations, but with maybe a quarter of the gv's made up of M3's with gv supplies. The M3's could be used for ground scouting, and to re-arm/repair tanks. We could make it a capture-the-flag scenario, where both sides have a farm building designated as their field command post (CP). The side that manages to get a tank or M3 inside the building (a barn or building with holes big enough to drive into) of the opposing side's CP wins. Who's in?
-
i'm impressed also. it's good.

beta 10 really is good! It's good to know the staff really listens to the bugs (why wouldn't they ofcourse...)
Many of the bugs solved there in 10 were mentioned by me, also good to know I've helped a bit :)
-
I got a solid 5-8 FPS increase with Beta 10, I was at 22-24 in the tower, I'm now around 28-30. Good job!
-
Kweassa what settings did you use to get that fps? I have a similar specced
machine thats only getting 10-20 fps atm and would really love to see an
improvement.
Anyone able to get these tumbling crashes someone talked about 'cause
all I get is some stuff breaking off followed by falling through the ground
then getting a you have crashed message.
-
Hmm........
I glad some here think it's better but, there is NEVER anyone up flying?? Why?? I guess when I heard AH-II was coming I was thinking Forgotten Battles in Massively-Multiplayer format. I guess I had hoped for better a/c FIRST. Both in looks and performance, possible including a mouse interactive cockpit for trim, and engine management.
To me it looks just like AH-1? The sun and shadows are added except the Sun still looks bogus in a different direction than 1! The terrain and the runways are better but not without a HUGE FPS hit. The ground handling is totally rediculous. If WW-II planes really handled like that, we'd all be speaking German. I consider myself an Average Pilot at best. I just don't see any better FM's yet!! They may be there but I can't tell.
Ok! not "smackin" the product here. It is very very Beta. The viewpoint to share here is I doubt that a scenario could be run.
Oh well, I am most probably not the brightest Log on the fire so I will wait for the final release. I'll bet it looks way different then it does now.
Regards,

Regards,
i kind of think that the huge torque was true to real life tho iv not played the game yet i hear that torque is huge on takeoff
i read that spitfire pliots had to use full rudder in the other way to control torque
but i do know that no ww2 plane could be taken off by just hiting full gas and using small amount of rudder:rofl
thats in sinlge ENG prop not sure about the P38
-
Totally agree! Floor-boarded and a little bit of rudder ain't right either.
I can't get the Spit up or down on the runway W/O auto-takeoff. The Mustang is like a "Buckin' Bronc. I can get it up off the runway but I crash on roll out.
So why does there never seem to be anyone in there?? I'm MST and on at Prime time?
Oh well knowing these guys it will get better and better.

Try slowly incrementing the throttle. Don't go above 50% until you're moving along at a fair clip. You'd be surprised just how difficult it was to get some of those planes to take off.
-
It's really easy once you get the hang of it, everyone who's been playing the betas from the get go(or came in later on) I'm sure can take off and land just as well as they do in AH1. Just takes a lil practice :aok
-
Yup, takeoffs are harder but all it takes is a bit of practice. The P51, F4U, and several other WWII planes were very well known for being pilot killers on takeoff if you were careless with the throttle. I think the new ground handling is more accurate than not.
-
Oh God...Imagine how hard it will be to land the B-26....:(
-
Yepp, the frame rate increase is nice, especially with the shift-Fx options.
I also like the ground collision model now. Much less instant deaths now. How about to switch to outside view like in IL-2?
Personnaly, I'm glad to see, that there is no new FM, that you would have to learn flying again. But I see changes and they are mostly in extrem situations like high speed, low speed and stall characteristics.
I had a few dogfights in Spit9 and Spit14. The torque is bigger and these spits have a much higher tendency for tail spin than in AH1. Also, when you do a split-s, you need more space to the ground than you are used from AH1.
Overall, I like the FM changes very much. The flight feeling is better than in AH1 and you need to be more careful with the plane. You could say you need more skills to handle the plane.
The Beta10 makes me hoping, that it will not take that long anymore and hopefully more people will be online.
Just an idea: would it be possible to show the player numbers of the AH2 arena also on the AH1 arena list? Maybe more people will realize that AH2 beta is online. ;)
